Another war wound!

Featured Replies

Parked in a public car park in Plymouth for two nights, come back to not one but two new scrapes.

I guess the notes detailing their insurance details blew off in the wind.

These photo's are from this morning now back up north, haven't been brave enough to wash it yet to see how much comes off and what remains...

Taking the pictures also highlighted under the number plate that the bloody neighbours tom cat has started peeing up the car, again.

Can you get your finger nail into it?

Have you a polishing machine?

BTW....Like button removed temporarily due to Software issues

Hey Chris,

I wouldn't say I can get my finger nail into it, although I can feel it slightly when I rub my finger over it. You can see where I rubbed it where the clean bit is on the highest section.

I have one of these but have never used it, DEWALT DWP849...

* just runs off back to the car park to get some dirt under his finger nails!

if you don't fancy using it wanna lend me it :) i need to do some swirl removal but can't justify spending £200 plus all the prep stuff i need!

Get yourself over here with your deWalt and I can give you some instruction

Main point though...I can try to help with your scratch

Thanks Chris, just been out to the car again (jeez it's cold tonight!).

I can't get my finger nail into any of the scratches. I think this might mean they'll polish out!?

The reason my polisher remains unused is the fear of making things worse and not knowing enough about the liquids and pads to be used. I've heard horror stories of burning the paint etc.

When searching for the image I did see it at Screwfix for £99, 'stock clearance'...

A Dual Action Polisher

Good range here

Many about to buy..some better than others

Good all rounder and better, IMO, than the Meguiars G220v2 I used to have, is the DAS-6 Pro

OR More powerful and therefore quicker and more efficient is the CYC DA-21E....Just sold mine

OR if you want one of the best (If not THE best) and most efficient..The FLEX XC 3401 VRG Polisher

Thanks Chris, just been out to the car again (jeez it's cold tonight!).

Cheers Chris, that's the wife's Scout and now my Superb on the list!

When youre ready...You know where I am ;)

If that's how it was parked I'm not surprised you were hit.

No one deserves that. Bar stewards. I had similar on my Impreza last month; whole front wing pushed in, without a mark. Car cam for xmas!

why cant people just admit when they make a mistake? pretty sure theyd be peeved if happened to their car.

Came out of a shop about 6 weeks ago to find a cut about 4 in long from drivers door into the rear passenger door.

noone parked beside me when i went  in, and noone when i came out... wa4kers...

I know my bus is 10yrs old and has had some lacquer peel and stone chips etc, but still, be F'ing careful!

i bought my neighbour 2 pressed metal no plates during the summer after catching his front, plastic, one with my towbar one day.

i went in told him quick but was in a hurry out -  thus the rush causing the error - then went back and apologised again when i got back.

ordered him the plates and dropped them in a few days later, even though he kept saying there was no need it was only a number plate.

he was well chuffed when i dropped them in at the same stage...

Re-read the post :dull:

Re-read the post :dull:

That doesn't mean it wasn't still parked like that though, but you parked it so you would know more. If it was parked correctly at the time then that is shocking, and they want a good sharp kick up the a**e with a pointy shoe.

any update on this what does it look like after a wash :D

I'm too embarrased to say, the car is now even dirtier

The damage happened on Sunday before a 400 mile drive from Plymouth to York. Up early on Monday morning (dark) and back after work (again dark), repeated each day this week.

It'll get a good wash this weekend (as well as fitting the winter wheels/tyres) so will report back!

I can't see the damage under the dirt so had forgotten about it for now :D
