Polo GTI some details

Featured Replies

Can you put some flesh on that please.

Was it a Manual or DSG he drove,  & what is his usual drives, daily or Track cars?

EDIT,

i see the review,

PS

So almost in effect VW admitting the Inlet heat problem that has dogged their Performance engines up to now

not just the 1390cc ones but larger capacity petrol engines as well.

So revised designs.

Move along, nothing to see here, everything was great before just even greater now.

PPS

GREAT REVIEW & REVIEWER IMO.  well done.

Hi all   Gave the Polo a quick single wash yesterday - don't want to do too much work as I have the car being detailed next week and want to leave the paintwork as untreated as possible until then.

Mate, when your previous car was a 60bhp Citigo, believe me the Polo GTI is "blistering"

Yeah Dale's an old hand at it, doing loads for piston heads now, but used to write for MCN and then moved to the ring where he set up bridgetogantry.com.  He races too so can drive pretty good,

I really like the look of this...

Even more so with the fact Polo's seem to be getting more favourable reviews than the new Fabia. (which is a shame)

popped into VW dealers this morning, they have a 3dr DSG one coming in a few weeks so going to call me for a test drive.  The price differences really ar not as big as they should be to push me to sticking with a Fabua, for spec i want Polo comes in at 21k, but theres always movement. Oh and it comes in the Matt Grey colour i love as a standard colour. .........  Really ant to try this 1.8 though in similar size package, i bet its rapid.

Such a shame you can't get a polo estate. Polo GTI Estate would suit us perfectly...

Shame you and the missus are lowering your standards Tom,but I do note the attraction for such.

The face lifted model will not accommodate change in my view but who knows when a totally new model appears in a few years.

On the other hand, right now, why not just use a Skoda Fabia mk3 Estate for the smaller hot estate! SIMPLES!!

Low cost to convert and a definite market for the relatively small investment.

That might just be the surprise Skoda has for the future,

3rd generation Fabia Estate with a decent engine and gearbox choices.

Only problem being them taking sales from the VWG's more expensive models.

Looking forward to the announcement on the 'Outdoor' model of the New Fabia Estate and what engine / gearboxes they might have.

Too much imagination required sadly to think of it becoming available with the S1 Drivetrain

I wonder if there will be some bargain Twincharger Polo GTI'S about, now that the New 1.8 GTI is coming to the showrooms. Ready for the New REG.

Could pick up a great deal!!?? 3 or 5 dr options etc.

Will be interesting to scan the VW used website at lowering prices.

Loads of room for negotiation I would think.

EG.

probably worth a shout at £14500!

The Scottish Sun Motor supplement yesterday had a feature on the available March 2015 VW Polo GTI and the current Fiesta ST.

Both manuals and very similar performance and the more expensive VW.

An Automatic and specified up Polo GTI 1.8 tsi is going to have to compete against a whole different class of car.

They look like being expensive compared to the likes if a Leon Cupra DSG, but then there are badge snobs that will pay the premium I suppose for the Polo, and time will tell on UK sales and later on residules.

Bargains maybe later down the line with Ex demo models.

Currently Seat Leaon Cupra DSG EX Demo with less than 5000 miles in the range £23000-£26000.

New Polo GTI DSG SPEC 5 DR ABOUT £21000.

Current Model Polo GTI twincharger showroom mileage £ 17000 but undoubtedly will be able to talk down price to approx. £ 14500 in my opinion-dealers will want to get rid.

Audi S1 Demo- Cheapest I've seen May 2013 £ 23500 base spec - £30000 high spec.

Haha just had a play with the finance configurator for the car on that link. Pretty eye watering monthlies given the quoted 16-18% APRs lol!!

Don't worry the Golf R would still be my preferred choice hehe. Only snag really is it will be significantly bigger than our Fabia Estate which SWMBO might not like.

Tom,

They are living in a dream world!!

Tell me about it. A 2-yr PCP with £1790 deposit was something like £500/month. Simply daft. You just hope nobody falls for that carp

Get her to demo the R Hatch in Taunton, if they still have it.

Nice day for a run out!

Best bet is the cheap Personal Loan, current rates at 4.2% - 5%. Yeah I know higher deposit.

I need to be extremely tactical regards my timing of a testdrive Keith, in order to maximise my chances of SWMBO authorising the purchase. It will be her daily driver so she needs to feel on board with the decision and that she has "chosen" it, otherwise I've an uphill task on my hands. If I jump into a testdrive too early and she's not quite at the point she's ready to ditch the Fabia then it could be a tricky situation to salvage...

I'm torn between the idea of her testdriving a Hatch Golf R then just ordering an estate before she's had a chance to eye up the extra length on offer vs waiting for an actual R estate to have a go in. Decisions, decisions....

Sounds like a lengthy bit of Foreplay, hope the climax gets you a result Tom.

Yep that's right you got it, I don't want to be testdriving the R just yet. I might get all excited and climax too early, before she's ready!

Extra length and width.  That is ooo & ahhh.

Must be a gym routine for that - weights etc.

Or powdered form from Boots!

Or a blue tablet- not for Tom ,he is only young !?

Haha, yes I'm only 33 so not in need of any blue pills just yet. Although having said that- Viagra is now "off patent" so (in the words of George) is "much cheapness" lol!

I have a plentiful supply if required.

Used to reduce the risk of Frost Bite, but the side effect is it does give a stiff neck.

But a smile on your face!

George are you putting them into your fuel, as a substitute for RedX. Stage 1 tuning for Fabia vRS MK2.

I'll try it in my missus's vRS tomorrow morning ,after "Cold Dipping" first of course.
