My Roomster has the 1.4 BNM engine, and is the lower 70hp model. To the left of the EGR valve as you look under the bonnet is some sort of air flap/valve, where the intercooler pipe fits,  what is it called & how much to replace it? anyone had problems with these?, mine is showing up as a fault on diagnostics, no other fault shown, the car runs ok but has occasional fits of running rough. I've had it diagnosed a couple of times and the same fault has come up, never anything else. Any ideas?

Thats the throtttle body, not known to go faulty very often, don't know how much a replacement would be but look very straightforward to change.

Thanks, she has done 170K.

Think it well deserves a new one then

I thought it was the anti-shudder valve

does get gummed up with rubbish, flap and body can be cleaned with a toothbrush and solvent (brake cleaner worked for my old 1.9TDi) and similar to clean the EGR

The problem with the car is like a slight missfire?

the PD engines do suffer from an injector wiring loom issue, which can give the symptoms of a misfire

problem is due to being bathed in hot oil it is a case of take out the wiring look and replace as once it is disturbed it cracks etc  as it becomes brittle

have a look on the mk I board, was an issue with the mk I vrs's not that common but did pop up regularly

Yes it did have a real bad misfire which the main dealer couldn't trace? but turned out to be the loom in the head. This is a lesser problem but still annoying!!
