Hi all, have joined in the hope someone may help. I have just changed coil pack on partners car and on replacing top cover noticed what appears to be a breather pipe of some kind that I have no idea connects to as there is nowhere visible. The pipe itself is only about 10mm dia. and about 6" long and is situated to rear of top of engine slightly to right and protrudes to right. When cover is on then pipe can just be seen. The end of the pipe looks like it has come of from somewhere but nothing is obvious. Sorry to go on but i hope someone can advise.

The pipe must connect to the airbox (top cover), look for a pipe stub under the airbox somewhere near  the pipe.

Hi sepuchrave. That was my first thought but there is nowhere under top cover for it to go thats why it has me baffled.

Later cars may have the breather connected to the throttle body or manifold, take the top cover off and have a look there.

You seem to think along the same lines as me but the pipe is fairly rigid and sticks out to the right, the other end goes onto ( excuse my description) some sort of black box about two inch square that is on top of head and pipe doesn't appear to go anywhere but to the right somewhere.
