Hello,

I want to replace my tail light bulbs with leds, was wondering what type should i look for e.g fitting and name etc and also i'm guessing i need canbus ones right? Links would be appreciated.

May i ask why?

If its just the tail lights its behind a lens anyway, so i wouldnt have thought youd be able to tell much difference?

Just thought they'd be brighter and therefore look a bit better? No other reason lol

Considering putting leds in the brake lights though, what do you reckon?

LED’s are very directional, so although they will appear brighter when looked straight into the LED, once you move to the side a little they will almost appear to be off,

That's true, i've noticed that on the newer audis and bmws, hm i really want to do something to my lights to make them look better than with the normal bulbs lol

Ive seen this around the internet..

Dont know what make they are or anything or if anybodys fitted them on here tbh.

Rear light clusters and front/rear indicators are areas where led bulbs suck unless they are original factory fitted type and even those suck imo.

Think it was something like 400€ ish.. And yeah it doesn't look very good, seen it on youtube and don't really like it that much, not for that price anyway

As it happens, I've just taken my car to the local Detailers, for a day or so session.

I'm not sure he'd be too happy if i called him a Maid though haha.

Just have to had a Red reversing light then .

Yeah. Its the entire housing thats designed for LEDs isnt it. You cant just put leds in an incandescent housing and hope for the same effect. Doesnt work like that does it haha.

Noting how most led housings seem to have loads of little leds, not one big one.

Hm yeah that's true actually, i swapped my reversing light bulb for a 50smd LED and the only difference was the colour, the output is still as bright, but now it just looks more blue than the OEM yellowy white

Ah glad you said that. I was thinkin of gettin an led reversing light. Not for the colour, just for the extra visibility.

Glad I've got reversing sensors cos i cant see a thing when its dark and wet haha.

If you get a CREE LED they are very effective in reversing lights.

They look brill. The fabia only has one reversing light so id only need to spend £18 .

Happy to order these now if i could find a listing for the same 80w osram ones that hasnt ended :( haha.

Edit: forget that, found and ordered one.

Yeah I'll try for some comparison pics. See it i can get my camera in manual mode and set the exposure n that. So its actually a fair comparison.

It arrived today. Shame its raining so i cant fit atm.

It says on the listing that itd 'osram'. However its arrived in a clear plastic bag thing with no mention of any manufacturer?

Was yours the same? Or have i got a fake? Haha

Fitted. Working. No canbus light, so far so good.

Just need it to go dark now do i can try em out .

Oh. Could do without the snow too, so the car actually moves lol

Mine are the same, not sure if they are genuine Osram or not, but TBH I don’t really care
