Tyre report- 12 months with Toyos

Featured Replies

Thought I'd write a quick report.

12 months ago and after only 14000 miles the front tyres (stock Conties) on my vRS needed replacing. Having had Toyos in the past I decided to replace all 4 with the new T1-R (the successor to the T1-S) and changed the profile to 225/45/17 from the standard 205/50/17.

Now, 17,000 miles later I can report that grip is vastly improved (as was expected) but the big suprise is how little they have worn, the fronts still have approx 3mm BEFORE they reach the depth indicator and the rears even more. As I have only driven the Octy on Contis and Toyos I cannot compare them with the other tyres people recommend but, needless to say I am very impressed.

cheers for the info, just sorting mine out with 225/45/17.though i'm going down the goodyear eagle gsd3 route(believe it not they are the cheapest performance tyre on mytyres)the price alone is a no brainer to me,but good to hear they are an improvement on the road.

any increase in cabin noise or rattles due to lower profile?

In a word, no :)

Toyos seem to be the most readily available tyre for most sizes, gotta be something about them!

I will probs have Toyos when I get my new alloys...

Got t1R's. So far very pleased.

eek, on my 3rd set of tyres in 30k, they need replacing soon, umm time to find a tyre partner.

HEard a lot of good reports that the shoulders of the T1's are way better now with the R shoulder. Different compound reduces wear and deformation.

The new T1-R's do seem to be wearing a lot better than the T1-S's, although I suspect I wont get the 45000 miles that my Toyo Roadpro's did on my Primera GT (couldn't get T1-S in the right size :( )

I think the Primera GT was very kind to tyres, I know mine seemed to last for ever, mind you P6000's bakalite compound.

I miss that Primera's handling :(

Damn, I though I'd got over that and you had to go and remind me :)

In a word, no :)

cool cheers.

and colin,i have p6000's on the front of mine not "too " bad,but wet grip is pants(bakalite is a good analagy).i'll be happy to replce them soon, going to whack on on as a spare and run good years

I've had mine a few months now, excellent grip, hardly any wear, will be getting two for the rear tyres next year.

I liked the T1-S but I wore out in fronts in 10,000 miles, if the T1-R lasts longer then probably a good buy.
