can you turn down or delete egr on 1.6cr using vagcom?

Featured Replies

I have had a lot of issues with these 1.6 egr valves having replaced about 7 on various skoda and have seen on the 1.9 tdi you could turn down the egr to below 10% dose anyone know if it's posible to do it on these newer engines as they are £310 for the part and a pain in the arse to replace thanks

A little off topic, but maybe this will help. You do not need to change EGR (which is as you have already noticed really expensive), but it is possible to change only bearing that usually breaks. And it costs only a few EUR-os. Valid also for 2.0 TDI CR EGR valve.

This is Google translate to the thread in Slovenian Skoda forum, where description and pictures are posted:

Hope this helps.

These are pictures of a user on skoda-team.com, not mine.

Both bearings are on this picture:

I will try to get par. nr. of the bearing. Dimensions are 10x4x3mm (diameter x width x diameter of the hole)

Thanks for that 'mtl' if mine ever goes I will know what to look out for, are there 2 bearings and only one goes and you only change 1 of them or is the picture of the single bearing before and after change ? cheers - Stuart

Old/new.

Anyway, problem can be also on white plastic gearing...

Thanks for that, I have had plastic gears chew up on car motors before and you cannot buy new ones, at least if its the bearing you can have a go at replacing it,  when the bearing breaks does it seize up solid ?
