Car revs past 3000rpm when stationary....Mapped ?

Featured Replies

As title suggest Iv read somewhere that the Fabia VRS will only rev past 2500rpm or 3000rpm when stationary if it has been mapped?

Is this correct? If seen on another forum that the Octy has a rev limiter when stationary. I don't make a habit of doing it but once i got to work this morning and engine and oil was nice and warm...It revved right upto 5000rpm when i was sat in car park in neutral.

Would this indicate that my car has been mapped?

My car revs out when sat still and its not been mapped

Yea I don't think mine had either got no paper work to support it. I just read about the rev limiter to stop you revving the tits off it when stationary. Apparently with traction control off it allows it to be done. But  I rarely switch it off.

Cheers for the reply

Guess that's answered my question :D

i know vtecs dont rev sat still. Its a vtec saver or something. I can see why it would be a good idea to be honest but dont think the mk1 fabìas have it might be the mk2 vrs

Yea possibly buddy, Good shout Im not 100% if what i read was to do with a mk1 or 2. My previous motor was a Civic V-tec LSI. And that 100% bounced off the limiter when stood still lol.

I've never heard of this stationary limiter.... Maybe thinking of the Civic forum you were on?

I think you might be on about the launch control setting which can be turned on in if its mapped.

The 2500 rpm limit is a new one on me, although i havent sat holding it at 5000rpm i have revved mine up that far before while sat and i know that no rev limiting has been altered on my map.

Good sign of having a map is how it pulls, a standard fabia vrs has a bit of a flat spot mid range, where as a mapped one should pull same throughout.

Who knows boys obviously confusing myself, my car does pull all the all through the rev range. If it is mapped it seems to be a good one as it don't smoke, At all. But not hitting boost very often and getting a shudder and groaning noise with a woosh which aounds like air and I aint got a clue what it is. and it worries me lol.

Thanks for clearing the rev limiter question up for me.

Helpful as always

The Mk1 Fabia does not as standard have a rev limiter.

It can be mapped in to provide launch control.

The Mk2 Fabia vRS and newer Octavias etc come as standard with a 2500rpm limit.

Nonsense

About as believable as the stories of the ON switch (have you found this yet?)
