Afternoon all - East Anglia

Hi all,

Thought I'd join to say hello. Reason that I've joined is that I've been looking at the MK1 Octavia VRS. After a couple of weeks browsing and looking at builds threads etc, I though't it would be best to open the door and say hello!

I see there is a couple of East Anglia people around on here which is nice, so hopefully I will see a couple of you around? I've done a meet with Bury Dubs back in 2011 which was arrange with ClubPolo that I set up which turned out well, despite a few chav's turning up at Sainsburys..... :no:
I'm one of the Admins that help run ClubPolo, but I've had Polo's and all of them have shat their gearboxes and I finally had enough and gave up. (Obviously it doesn't help lowering the car and putting extra strain on the weak boxes)

So... I've been looking at the VRS and also looking at the Cupra R 225. Been stuck on what to go for, after various amounts of research I'm trying to weigh up the pro's and con's of both vehicles.

Been on the Cupra forums and asked about the troublesome gearboxs that plage the Seat range (same as the Polo's) and trying to see if the same box is used on the VRS and how common do they go. I'd love to hear some stories and expereinces of your VRS's, I know the issue of the boxs and what causes it but trying to see if they are as bad as the Cupra's.

Thanks :notme:

Well I picked up my VRS.

Black, 1 Owner, 65,000 miles, service history.

Very happy indeed, already fixed a couple of things;

Rear wiper now works, the pipe came off the water bottle and at the rear behind the CD changer.

Need a new hazard relay, stalks are fine.

Front wipers a little sticky, so took them off, stripped them down and greased them.

Needs a new temp sensor so that will be sorted soon.

Plan to keep it original as possible.

Grats and welcome to the forums!
