Hi, New Octavia VRS owner

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new

Picked up my 2014 Octavia VRS TDI last week - (Estate in white with black pack)

So far so good - certainly much more fun than the Seat Exeo it replaces..

Cheers

Jeff

Hello and welcome.

Hi.  I have had my VRS estate for 6 months and now have 6,000 miles up.  Some issues I have had to deal with:

  • A very odd smell in the cabin.  Dealer fixed it by disinfecting the air-con and hanging up a pine fresh deodarant!
  • Cabin rattlles.  Specifically both seat belt mountings in the front are prone to annoying vibrations on rough surfaces.  At ear height!  Dealer claimed it was fixed.  Not so.
  • Some minor paint defects - including a clamp mark under the laquer on a window strut.  Dealer promised to come back to me on this - so far failed to do so.
  • Really annoying alloy wheel design flaw.  I have silver alloys with a rim that projects beyond the tyre - an Audi wheel according to the guys in my local paint shop who have repaired two wheels for me so far - one twice at £60 a time!  Even more annoying is that only one repair was kerb damage - road debris had probably been responsible for the other nibbles that have been repaired.
  • Anybody thinking of buying the Canton sound system - don`t.  Its rubbish.
  • Its expensive to run. OK its only just run in, but I exchanged a Mk III VRS estate for this one which had way better mileage.

Of course there are plus points.  Its quick and comfortable and you can park a horse in the massive rear end.  Mine's in Black and when clean and with wheels repaired, it looks really good.  This does balance the negatives quite a bit.  But on blaance it simply isn`t worth the 25 grand I paid for it and I`m not having another.  I'll run it for another year and trade it for a big Ford or 1 year old Merc.  Shame though. This was my third Occy and sadly will be my last.

Hi Jeff,

I too traded my SEAT Exeo in for a white vRS Estate TDi (DSG), black pack, just last month - Very happy with it so far... Where in the UK are you?
