But you need to buy from a safe Vendor because of Fakes / Copies.  ie Rubbish ones.

I know you don't like them but got some BKR7EIX to try over Xmas. I'm wondering if the ODB II app that I have records revs over time which would be good to way of tracking any differences on idle. Check when I'm home again.

I think vRSy said he got 5,000 miles out of them,

i removed ones that were failing at under 8,000 miles,  so as long as you know they are not Long Life.

They are different to the ones I posted. Mine are iridium not platinum (don't know how much differece that makes)

Looks like I had my pants pulled down from Sam centre with the plugs. Nevertheless there genuine or were shall I say. it's been confirmed by Skoda that the engine is the problem and I need a new one. :(

Pictures of internals to follow!

Are they saying you need to pay?

I think you paid way over the odds for them. Did Skoda give any more details on the issue?

The amount of repetition on this forum of the same posts nearly word for word every single day is becoming really rather tiresome.

It's a shame as there is good information here. But posting the same thing every day actually undermines the value in those messages - IMHO.

Pretty much spot on

I suspect that a couple of the most prolific posters here could actually post succinct, clear, substantiated, factually accurate information - e.g.

  • How to check your oil
  • How much oil to put in your engine based on the dipstick indication
  • What oil to use
  • How to remove the spark plugs
  • What to lookfor on a spark plug when it is removed
  • What replacement spark plugs to use

Instead, they prefer to rail incoherently against VAG, Dealers and the Press and randomly to post links to tuning advice and videos describing how an Infernal Combustion engine works.

Lots of heat, lots of light, lots of noise but next to no illumination - very sad

Well done for putting together a 'nearly' well worded opinion of yours. It's a forum and people can post whatever they like. You more then likely work for VAG because your the only one really trying to stick up for them. Nonetheless

Thanks everyone apart from you sir... for your advice! :-D

Good idea I looking forward to your write up. Btw you don't have to read the post if it offends you or aren't interested.

I'm interest in to hear what went wrong so hopefully I can try and prevent it from happening to mine and trying to help someone who maybe like me thought these cars were bullet proof before joining the forum.

Come on the Skoda /VW Fan Boys  Pearce_jj & vxh26 ,

surely it is time you give us your expertise & knowledge of the 1.4 TSI CAVE Engines.

How about posts from you giving the information all in one thread as suggested in post #31. ?

& where you believe you heard or read something from VW or Skoda ,

please clearly link that Information for the source to be clearly seen.

Some stickies on the most repeated topics would surely be a good thing. They could then be kept up to date with the latest developments in knowledge, especially as these engines start to age. A sub forum (better yet a wiki), for VRS/Twincharger Issues & Maintenance. Then fill your boots with content, it will surely save hours in maintaining the knowledge, rather than needing to bump stuff, and also make for much concise replies to new members - see X, Y & Z.

I've done my fair share of guides over the years - these three articles have 40,000 views between them I just noticed!, and would love have time to do some on the TC. Maybe I could get some time to do one on spark plugs, I think that's a good idea.

I thought the point was that we were all fanboys... a Freudian slip perhaps!

We are fan boys of the cars, which is why we have them,

some seem to be Volkswagen fans and put faith and trust in them, possibly misplaced trust.

There is no Scandal, just service as normal,

there is just the Volkswagen Group building an engine from 2009-2012 that had inherent faults & carrying on as though there were

no real issues, repairing and replacing engines as they have had to,

& revising the Engine & Engine management until they stop production, and nearly nobody will know,

Just the usual way that the Volkswagen Group deal with their failures.

So i look forward to you and vhx26's positive spin on how the VWG have tried to fix things, and how nobody has lost out.

What interests one person might not interest another like your posts. If we don't hear from people who have issues we'll never know. Agree that a it's worth pulling the information in one place. Unfortunately, since you can't do too much to the VRS engine the post will tend to cover the same topics.

@fabman22 still waiting to hear which spark plug part number you used?
