Esurance

Featured Replies

Is it worth taking up the 'free' Skoda Esurance I have just been offered? Is there a 'downside'? Thanks.

Its another middle man that just adds to the cost of any claims and thus raises the prices for everyone. You're free to get Skoda to repair your car regardless.

I took up the offer last year since it wasn't costing me anything. And it's called "Ensurance", btw.

These are my thoughts.

There's a company who have sent me a couple of emails whilst owning and initially taking out Skoda insurance with info on Ensurance. They are based a couple of villages away, around 6 miles from me. I didn't even know they existed, and more to the point why?? What's in it for them, they don't do it for nothing. And I thought when my insurance company says, please inform us ASAP if you need to make a claim, these people are asking you to contact them so they can handle all claims. I don't really get it, but I am old. :peek:

i think it is so they can argue for skoda to do the repairs, rather than their approved repairers, some of these are shocking what they think they can get away with, an "approve repairer" for my insurance a few years back returned my roomster with a bowed bonnet

but here is the rub, how many dealers do you know with a bodyshop?, I know my dealer subs out paint  work and never seen anything other than service in the bays of the workshop

I know a dealer which has it's own bodyshop....mine! Lucky, eh?

I think my dealer replaces any part that would have been damaged in a crash (money grabbers IMO) when I went down with my damaged car he was saying this and that would need to be replaced and would have probably quoted around £1800, I gave him a present instead :finger:

Thanks, your replies more or less agree with what I already thought - why bother. I don't think my insurer (LV=) forces 'their' repairer, just suggest it. dennis.

Just a note about this, it was my union (when I was working) that gave me this cover for free, that's why it was a local company. Skoda Ensurance on the other hand was a different company but same type of deal.

None of them can force you. If they could, Skoda Ensurance wouldn't work either.

Huskoda, my casual use of 'forces'. I do appreciate it cannot be forced in the usual snse of the word. Nice dog.
