Uneven acceleration with cruise control

Featured Replies

Hi.

Has anyone else noticed, that when using the cruise control to accelerate, sometimes it will stop and then soon after accelerate some more? Fx. when leaving a 60km/t zone, I usually press and hold the button to accelerate back to 80km/t. In my old Fabia this was just a smooth even acceleration, but with my O3, sometimes it will go to maybe 70, then pause for 1 sec and then continue. Just like if I had released the button - which I have not.

I hope this makes sense :-)

Could it be changing gears? Maybe the button on the stalk is a little too sensitive to small pressure changes...

Manual or DSG?

I was also thinking gear change if you have DSG.

Have not noticed it myself, but will try it out next time i am out driving.

I have noticed when pressing resume it reduces power if the steering is turned. Eg coming off a roundabout, press resume and it accelerates gently until the car is straight when it will then accelerate harder up to the set speed.

Why you can maybe drive more economically than the Cruise Control can.

You see forward and know when an incline is coming, and also a decline, and you are moving the accelerator to suit the road & conditions.

All the Cruise Control is doing is keeping to a set speed,

unless it is hooked up to Radar or GPS.

It's a manual and it is without touching gears. What bothers me, is that it's intermittent. Like a faulty switch. But I don't think that's it. My worry is, that it's some kind of sw bug, so I was just interested in hearing, if anyone else had noticed a similar fault :-)

Whic mode are you using, Eco will pause, Sport won't

I don't have a mode switch. It's a elegance 1.6 estate.

There was a problem with the column switch on certain builds. Some on here said they were getting replacement items when going in for service etc as it was flagging up at dealers. Mine has a slight problem, occasionally resumes at a different speed to previous set. I have noted it for when it goes in for service.

@decuk

Sounds like what I might have then. I've also seen strange things happen with the resume speed. I'll see what they say when it's time for service.

Thanks all for input.
