VW corrado?

Featured Replies

Anyone here oned one of these in the past? I wondered about mpg and running costs for a 1.8.

It would be an old one - probably G plate ish with about 100k miles - value for these seems to be 1.5k on autotrader.

I am looking at one for a work car and it will do about 35k miles a year so high milage doest bother me.

Any recomended 'evo' ish alternatives also apriciated.

I used to have a H plate G60.

Nice car & a classic IMO.

The VR6 seems to be the icon, but the other models are still good.

My G60 would average around 30mpg to & from work (30 miles per day) even with a chip & smaller pulley, which pushed it to 190bhp.

Sold it about 3 years for

Never had one but wouln't mind owning a corrado one day.

PM Beeftech. He has one.

I wouldn't mind owning another one if I had the money. But a late VR6 this time.

The G60 was getting a bit a long in the tooth & becoming expensive to run (supercharger rebuilds for starters).

You Rang :D

Hi Jon, Haven't seen you on here for a while........How'd the track day go?

shrops_paul: I've got a 1.8 16V, modded somewhat, but when it was std could get about 30-35mpg, on a long run maybe even 39!!!! 1800 is very revvy though, feels like bugger all below 4.5K, 2litre valver has more torque but same bhp as 1.8

The VR's (Especially storms) are the ones everyone tends to go for, so you can pick up some bargains in lower engined sizes (They even made a 2litre 8V  Quite rare though)

As Jon has pointed out they are a cult car/future classic and they're are lots of abused ones out there! I love my C but would not think about piling 35K on it in a year.....She'd cry! Honestly, A cheap Runabout they are not! They can be very expensive to fix, Insurance is somewhat pricey and a

Was good, but had a "moment" coming out of Barcroft.

Let's just say I got in there too hot & found the limit of the tyres! :(

I sold my 2.0 16v last year when a family car was called for.....had it for 5 years, loved it throughout, BUT!!, i travelled all over the UK to find that one as there are lots of abused ones out there and despite cherishing it mine started to need money thrown at it towards the end; ECU fault, spoiler woes, head gasket etc etc, If i could afford one id buy a VR6 tomorrow, but like has been said, sunday car and fine days only, not a high mileage option these days!

Plenty of cheaper, more reliable options, the VW Bor(a)ings are dirt cheap..as long as you don't look at it from behind its ok....

Never owned one, but fancied getting a 2.0 16v as a "ring toy"

Good cars , what I heared so far, but spare parts ( especially body parts

like wings, doors, hoods are quite expensive..

my mate has just brought a V6 one its a beast realy realy nice for the age... if you interested in a G60 this one has just come one the market its mint the guy spends hours looking after it... also modded dicretly so woudl make an ideal track car..

My nephew's a bit of an enthusiast -he's had a couple of G60's. The first was written off when a drunken driver hit him, but the other one is still going well. With a set of coilovers and some nice alloys it's still a pretty car.

Agree with Beefy boy- brilliant cars, but if you're doing that sort of mileage I would be getting something else!

Had 2 2.0 16v's and nothing went wrong on them at all, however I know a few people who've had valvers and had to spend a fortune.

G60 was superb, but not exactly reliable.

Both my VR6's were something else! Amazingly smooth power delivery and as for that sound... Cost an arm and a leg to keep going, looking good, insurance etc.

Am desperate to get another one, but not as a daily driver. Need to start saving...

if you are intent on getting one get either the 1.8 16v or 2.0 16v as the G60 and VR6 would be far to expensive to run :)
