Just fitted a used stream unit and can't get off safe screen

Featured Replies

Hi all my car is ex police car so didn't come with a radio I've bought a stream radio fitted it and it came up 'safe' as I expected it briefly came up with 0000 but this soon went back to safe and that's all I'm getting I can't get to the point of entering the code

Can anyone help?

Not sure, but you may need to leave the ignition at the 1 position with the radio on. I believe there is a time out that gets longer after each incorrect attempt so you have to wait a while (hour(s)?) for the timeout to expire before it will let you have another try. I take it you have the correct code?

theres a code on the back of the unit written in green marker, im going to try this if i can get the thing to the enter code screen, so far i havent entered anything, another little thing the 4 bolts that clamp the headunit to the dash what size are they? im going to be swapping my dash on friday to one with no messy cut outs or holes,

looked at that and ive drove the car for more than an hour with radio connected and still showing safe mode with no option to enter code, might have to visit local stealer or decoding shop and see what can be done,

Connect it up to VCDS and scan it. I've had issues like this which resolve themselves when scanned, and will then let you enter the code. Might work.

Have you tried the numbers written on the back? I have an ex Cambs Police Octy and it had a Stream MP3 when I bought it. I've since replaced it but it has something on the back written in green marker, no idea if it's the code though :/ If it isn't, I'll keep it and refit when I come to sell the car rather than sell the unit separately...

I did but that didnt work unfortunately, but i paid a seller on ebay 11quid and had code less than 24 hours later all sorted now, and i must say im impressed with the quality of the sound coming from the standard speakers,

cheers for all the help
