Hid's flickering and one's dim

Problem with hid flickering

I just got this yesterday, now the lights haven't been coded (if that's whats needed.....05 mk2 Octy tdi new shape) but when on, the pass side flickers and is dimmer than the drivers, also when put high beam on both hid's flicker and VERY dim, when put it (high beam) off, no dip/hid I've got turn the lights off and on to get hid on again....obviously something's not right. If it's needing coded via vcds then fair enough, or its a duff kit

I'll swap the ballasts shortly

Link doesn't work but it's an h7 5k kit from Londoncolour

My understanding was they shouldn't be fitted until coding can be done. Switching them on without coding can lead to strange behaviour which probably explains this as you suggest.

I'll take them out then till I can get it done

You were told what to do a while ago by mikeholroyd  in the other thread about fitting h.i.d's :dull:  i hope you havent caused any major damage by doing this, read the thread again......they have to be coded before you fit them.

The reason I put them in was the Wilson that did with his (06 mk2 new shape same as mine) and had no trouble so I thought I'd do the same. Obviously although 2 cars are the same wiring's not, I pm'd him incase he doesn't see this

Ok ok...as said, I'll take them out till I can get him or someone to code them, if I've damaged something it's my own stupid fault

Ive had canbus hids in my car for nearly 5 years now and never codded them in everyone i know with vag cars ive always told them buy a canbus kit and they have always been plug and play ive never had to code any car for hids.

Wilson I pm'd you :)

Maybe it's time for everyone to calm down and review the advice that's already been given.

I really don't know why I and many others bother trying to help others on here.....................

Some people, like me, need that help and can appreciate it!

Anyway it's really amusing to read this thread (and the one before too), it's like telling my daughter do not this and that and she always do just the opposite but then she is 11 months old...

I also installed HIDs as per recommendation given here, got the car coded first, then let the garage check light alignment and all works perfect.

I wanted the HID kit in my car & i dont have any experience with the coding etc but with the help & advice from mikeholroyd & phil i now have them fitted & working. The advice in both threads has been helpful & clear from people that have done this upgrade so know what they are talking about, thats what friendly forums are all about,Cleo there is no need to abusive to people that are trying to help you (again).  :notme:
