CEGA & CFJA differences?

Featured Replies

Just bought a 59 plate cr170 elegance registered in January 10 and then subsequently read this which shows the CEGA engine replaced with the CFJA in May 2010. I'm kicking myself a bit. Should I have bought a car with the later engine? What are the differences (power and torque appear to be the same)?

I seem to remember it was a different type of injector or something. Where's TP when you need him?!

TIBET I and TIBET II had one of each - never noticed any difference.

Personally, I wouldn't worry as I can't remember seeing any engine-code specific problems. Sit back, eat more turkey and relax - it's a Yeti so you'll enjoy whatever!

The CEGA engine is a first generation CR and the CFJA is second generation and from a mechanical point of view there are quite a few changes, for example the earlier engine uses a chain driven oil pump the latter belt and the turbo manufacturer switches from Borgwarner to Honeywell.

However for the owner/driver, as aerofub states, you should notice little difference; just enjoy your new car  :)

Thanks folks, helpful responses. I am really enjoying the Yeti, really solid build quality, quite quick and really practical for our family (wife plus 4 and 6 year olds). I'm now looking into some winter wheels and tyres as I spend a lot of time in North wales. Possibly also a remap via shark who seem to get some good feedback on here.
