Radiator Fans Remaining On After Switching off

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a 2003 Fabia 1.4 16v and one of my issues is the radiator fan keeps running long after I switch off the engine. Can anyone advise me on what this could be?..

This normally happens when sat in traffic for long periods of time

Its designed to cool engine down after its turned off

Aslong as it actually turns itself off after 5mins or so thats normal.

Does your temp gauge sit at halfway for normal driving

Then does it creep past and get higher when sat for long time in slow moving traffic.

Summertime is worse.double check coolant level

Could also be a faulty temperature sender telling the car its hotter than it really is.

Check coolant level as already advised,

Could also check this first thing in the morning, make sure AC is turned off and start the engine with the bonnet open. If the fans come on at full speed its almost certainly a sensor, if they stay off then it could be as vzo25 said.
