Vrs Octavia 1.8T tapping ?

Featured Replies

Hi all good morning merry Christmas and all the best for new year 2015.wright here gose just bought an skoda Octavia vrs mk1 1.8 turbo and it's got a tapping problem done some reserch and its leading to the oil pick up pipe the oil light has been on twice oil leval is full drives an runs fine herd the pick up pipe is the common problem is this correct any thing else to look out for as I'm new to skoda been mainly a Vauxhall guy so new to the turbo petrol scene all help an advice is greatfull

is the oil light on

if not check it is not the carbon canister tapping. it is on drivers side of engine bay and putting your hand on it you will hear and feel the solenoid at idle - it is meant to tap

If the light has been coming on then you could be right about the pick up pipe. If you're having oil pressure issues, I advise stop driving it until it's fixed as you could do further damage. Turbos and big ends don't like being run short of oil.

Changing the pipe is easy. Drain oil, sump off and then undo 2 small bolts to remove the pipe. Make sure you also replace the O ring with the pipe.

Part numbers:

Pipe 06A115251

O ring N0282222

This is a total mistery for me....why so many problems of blocked oil sumps in UK?I never saw one here ,I mean never even heard of any sump problem on any Octy or MK4 Golf,Seat ,any engine.

Must be a common problem for them all cars have there demons that need to be ironed out if there past there recall time from the dealers we do them our selfs I'm new to the turbo vrs scene so I'm on a learning curve with them but know what to do mechanical wise if it needs doing to save garage labour

Maybe we dont look after our cars aswell in the UK? Some people just drive them and dont worry about servicing so much. Use the incorrect oils etc..

I was once told by my vag trained mechanic a lot of issues regarding oil pressure was due to using 10w40 oil. Apparently it causes the engine to coke up. He advised i switch to 5w30 after having oil pump issues. It uses a little bit between changes now though.

The people can't understant the difference between a thick oil and a thin but superior one.The thickness doesn;nt represent a better lubrication ,but the chemichal does, speaking about molecullary superiority

I use 5w40 and it requires about 500ml per 1200miles. It doesnt bother me to much. Shes old

Yeah it doesn't bother me either. I'm not sure how much it uses but it needs a few top ups between changes. It's not as bad as a mk2 fabia vrs anyway!!

Im just guessing at 500ml, it could be more. It rattles on start up when it starts getting below half way on the dipper, thats how i know it needs topping up lol

I dont seem to be using any 0w40 Mobil 1 between changes every 6k - I hope a good thing!
