Anyone removed the grille mounted vrs badge?

Featured Replies

As Im waiting for my mk3 to turn up and im bored and its a really bad time of year to get stuff done, I thought Id ask...

Ive asked my dealer to totally debadge, apart from the winged arrows, so I hope they will remove the grille mounted vrs badge, but if they don't, has anyone on here attempted it (successfully) on a mk3 please?

Cheers in advance for any help...

Nick

Its part of the grille and will damage the grille if removed.

Be well aware that the grille other than the actual surround is part of the bumper so if it breaks the bumper assembly would have to be replaced.

Some *"""**" had removed mine somewhere between factory and me seeing it in the dealers compound. It left 2 marks where it had been attached. Probably bonded on. I don't know how the replacement is stuck on but, it's been there 6 months and seems OK.

Thanks for the replies, thus far... It may have to be pasti dipped then, so its more subtle.. Stealth 3 has to be uber stealthy imho...

"Grips like sh!t" probably, if Carlsberg made adhesives

Mine was removed by the dealer, then re applied, because of the damage to the grill. I took it straight off again. There is a little damage, but unless you are right up close, you can't tell.

I'm quite pedantic about the bodywork on my car, yet still prefer the debadged but slightly damaged look. Especially after a minute or 2 with some fine sandpaper.

Thanks for that Snail, that gives me hope. Stealth and Stealth 2 were.... well stealthy, I just want Stealth 3 to be ultra stealthy...

Sorry if this upset some people but I do see why you want to remove the vRS badges yes the octavia & skoda ones can go but not vRS ones why buy a vRS and not tell people you drive one the car looks different from the standard octy so I can understand why you do this but we are all different so that a good thing.

The front vRS badge is glued to the front grille it will need to be heated up to soften the glue then you can pull it off do the rear one the some way

Rob, cheers for the input. This is a forum, for open discussion.. so don't worry about upsetting people. I just want to remove the badges, simple as that. I want it to be a sleeper. I personally think the vrs badge clutters up the grille appearance in a minor way. Its all down to my personal taste, that why I went for a skoda, a black one, a vrs. The car will still be a vrs, I just don't want to shout about it. Clean lines, purity of purpose, I guess. People in the know will still know its a vrs. Youre not so far away either, im just down in the Forest of Dean.. I can opo up and show you in the metal some time.. The advice re the glue is helpful, thank you

That okay we'll are all different so it what makes you happy at the end of the day.

For me I like people to know that my octy is a vRS well they can't miss it its red

I like to see it when you got the car and remove the badges to see what it looks like

After the stage 1, they'll know its a vrs....

I was just about to ask the OP to go into deeper detail about why you'd want to debadge at all as I couldn't understand it at all.

Then I thought about my own distaste for most branding especially on clothing etc.

ie, my view is that products that are meant to be looked at shouldn't have to have the manufacturers' logo present to make them look good.

I don't mind them on stuff like TVs, PCs etc - as you are looking at a screen and hopefully not the surround.

A car grill - I guess that would fall into the "clothing" category as it is functional but designed to catch the eye; so I'm quite baffled why I find them not annoying in the slightest :notme:

I just prefer the clean lines without the badges... I know what it is, that's all I need and I don't like to shout about it... perfectly willing to admit its down to personal preference. If everyone else debadged, mine wouldn't look different... :notme:
