Prices rise by 1% but £1500 discount and 42 month 0% PCP remain

Featured Replies

Still a good (perhaps thre best) Skoda deal out there in the UK......

"And now, thanks to our 3 BIG REASONS finance offer it’s even easier to get your hands on a brand new ŠKODA Rapid, with £1,500 off the OTR† †, 0% APR representative when purchased on a Solutions Personal Contract Plan and up to 3 years’ servicing for £99".

The 42 month 0% PCP, by quick calculation, relates to a further £600 discount I reckon.  Elegance looks the one to go for and I am thinking of the diesel DSG.

Good choice the Diesel DSG, I've had mine 3 months now & no problems at all, so far.

Good to hear you like it as they are so rare it has been difficult to hear details about this car/engine combo.

As I spend 99% of my time at the National speed limit on motorway, with occasional crawling in motorway incidence and city traffic, and I have had 4 DSGs, two wet 6 speed ones and two 7 speed dry clutch ones, I deffinately lean towards the DSG rather than manual.

The fact that it is 90hp rather than 105 does not concern me too much as it is the torque figure ie 230 Nm against 250 Nm ie not too much difference, I like the sound of and it is where we spend the vast majority of the revs rather than over 4k revs.

Drove the 1.2 TSI and the 1.6D back to back and thought the diesel was more pleasant at speed ie just felt more relaxed, quieter etc.

What MPG are you getting from it, although it will probably not do its best until you have 10K miles or so and the engine starts to gas flow itself and achieve minimum cylinder turning resistance?

Careful.

"The finance offer relates to the Rapid S 1.2 MPI75PS model with metallic paint."

I asked about this offer when my wife was buying her Rapid Spaceback, the discount is only for one model (as in the offer page) the 'Rapid S 1.2 MPI75PS model with metallic paint'.

They may have changed the offer but I would check with your dealer first!

None of this makes sense until you give us the amount of the deposit, annual mileage and the monthly amount!

The headline monthly payments will be for the lowest spec'd car with a high deposit; well you wouldn't advertise the most expensive one with every option, a piddly deposit with a huge monthly payment  - there's nothing to grab your attention.

The PCP with deposit contribution is available throughout the range (not inc. Spaceback), just that the monthly payment will change accordingly.

Careful.

Has anyone in history bought a rapid or toledo with that engine?

slowest and least economical in the range is it not?

answered my own question - registrations topped out at 50 skodas since 2012.

At least you have no turbo to worry about and with Skoda-VAGs crappy warranty of 60K miles only, I had a turbo go at 65K, thankfully done mostly on goodwill as car was only 2 years old.

O% PCP is really good a worth a good few hundred pounds in addtion to the £1500 reduction but still not as good value as car I would want is about £18K ie Elegence Rapid with diesel DSG so still quite expensive ie around £16K and locked in for 42 months.

That many? 50 in two years! I was advised to steer well clear of this one, Skoda has quite a few they cannot sell, overpriced, uneconomical, under specced. One dealer did admit he thought the advert was a little uninformative and it should have made the deal clearer that it (The discount) only applied to stated model and was not across the range as many had thought.

An interesting point though is that with fuel now so cheap how many miles have you got to do to make the more efficeint TSI or TDI actually pay for itself?

Plus, as mentioned previous, once out of warranty you have a car that probably would cost a grand or two to fix the engine even with a major blow up when as you could be looking at several grand for a TSI/TDI blow up.

The non-turbo engines are generally not so much fun to drive as they have not got the mid-range punch for overtaking and blasting.

The US market has taken a very long time to warm to turbo cars when they could get a really cheap naturally aspirated one and if it did 5 or 10 mpg less then big deal unless you did loads of miles as fuel, like it is heading for us, fuel is so relatively cheap.

Of ocourse the US was generally looking at non-turbo V5,V6 or V8s which did have a fair bit of torque from lots of CCs but the three cylinder HTP has some charm, torque peaks at 3K revs if I recall correctly.

They also warm up far more quickly than the TSI and therefore start achieving their proper mpg sooner and making the occupants comfortable quicker.

Carfile currently offering this model for £15,177.80 so there should be more room for negotiation: http://www.carfile.net/results.php?leaf=2&total=30&make=SKODA&model=RAPID&bodytype=small-hatch&type=business

I suppose it depends on the dealer, will they match this?
