fabia vs mini

Featured Replies

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

I know this topic has been beaten to death.

But I just got my VRS today and it is proving difficult to keep the car to reasonable speeds, it just wants to go and go on a wave of torque, or is that just me?

Anyway I have heard about Tiff, 5th Gear, showing the mini cooper how it is done and I really want to see it. But where is it? The Ntl links are dead. I don't rate Clarkson so am not too bothered about him.

Please anyone know current links or if it is to be repeated soon?

Thanks

Ron

BMW Mini Cooper - coarse engine, nasty uncomfortable seats. Only suitable for the missus on a shopping run ;)

If its of any use: I've just taken my Niece's Mini Cooper for a spin and it was FLAT. Great on the corners BUT no torque in any gear. Very dissapointing indeed AND it rattled like hell AND the seats are just a joke AND....... :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

Or for people who have their heads up their own backsides on a permenant basis

Bini's :thumbdwn:

The mini cooper/cooper s are very capable cars in their own rights.

A Cooper S I am sure will undoubtadly beat a standard vRS, my Jabba'd one is even too about 80 mph where I go steadily by it.

However an S works or BBR tuned Cooper S will be a different story.

Also a VRS vs 206 clip to be found there.

Having done 10,000miles in a Cooper, and 3,000 in my Furby since trading in said Cooper, I would offer the following thoughts :

Mini

+ wonderful handling, bespoke interior, build quality

- awful ride [16" runflats], no back seat space, poor torque, relatively poor economy, pretty noisy too [tho that mite have had something to do with the Milltek exhaust I fitted...]

Furby

+ day to day driveability [ie LOADS of torque], build quality, space, economy, ride quality

- sloppy handling [OK it grips but it rolls & pitches more than a ferry in a force 8 gale...]

I would say that both look good and I had / have had no problems with seat comfort either [6' tall]. I intend to sort out the handling at some point but do wonder why - given that so many on this site have fitted Eibach springs and / or suspension bits - Skoda didn't trade some of the comfortable ride for a better handling set up...

To sum up - I loved my Cooper but I have no regrets getting into the Furby world...
