Alignment (no rip off) solutions / opinions.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have had to have wheel alignment done on two different occasions. It was done at the place synonymous with the pinnacle of motor racing.

The first time was because of a curbed wheel, and I ordered the 4 wheel service on the internet. When I collected the car I was asked for more money (than I had paid over internet). They told me the website had not taken into account of the Hunter equipment at this particular depot, which had done a more thorough job. I objected, but paid to get the car back, then contacted their management who admitted I had been overcharged, and they refunded £40.

The second time was due to replacement of front (console) wishbone bushes. I thought I would give them the benefit of doubt and took it directly to them.

My issue is that on both occasions I had to pay for the rears to be adjusted even though they were set the first time, which was only about six months or so, earlier than the second. (I drive pretty carefully).

I see that the rears are adjusted by a cam style bolt and intend to mark this setting so that it cannot be adjusted to give false readings and then re-adjusted back as it was, (ie ripped off), which I feel I was at least this second time.

Any stories, ideas or advice, or solutions welcomed.

Tony.

Name names!  If what you say is true, you have nothing to lose by doing so.

I have had 4-wheel alignment (on my Mazda MX-5) carried out by Tony Bones at Wheels-in-Motion in Chesham and the service was excellent.

The (brand new!) car was miles out of adjustment - correcting the alignment transformed it.
