EML is on - VCDS reports Glow Plug failure

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My battery died the other day after a particularly cold spell - so I jump started the car and replaced it.

Since then, the engine management light has been on. I hooked it up to my VCDS reader and it came back with "Glow plug on cylinder 2 electrical circuit". I cleared the error and it reappeared when I got going again.

Before I go ahead and change the glow plugs, does anyone know of what else it could be?

Cheers,

Rob

Unless the wiring is faulty then it's that glow plug.

As above, check the wiring and earth points. Clean them up, copper grease etc and then reset the fault. If it reappears then the plug is duff.

If they do need replacing I'd soak them in some penetrative spray oil a good few hours before attempting because they have been known to snap in the head... or just pay someone else to do it.
