Google.com -> Google.co.uk

Featured Replies

Can someone help me out - if I want to search Google, I type straight into the address bar and it populates into Google and searches. But it searches via www.google.com - can it be changed to default the search via www.google.co.uk ?

Or am I asking too much?

adding 'UK' at the end of your search query I think sorts that.

Which browser are you using?

Would do but company laptop so can't swap it :dull:

I think you can use the Google search tools to set UK as your default...

Yup go to Google.co.uk and at the bottom you should be able to change to UK.

There may even be an option in ie10 if you have set Google as your default search engine

If it's a company laptop it could all be set via group policy so any changes might just be temporary anyway :(

If you don't mind plugging a flash drive in, you can install chrome to one... then run it from that.

it remembers all your settings.

YMMV and I take no responsibility if you get in trouble for it. :D

Don't install chrome without your IT department's say so.

You might be able to change the defaults in IE10 to push it to the UK results or use the advanced settings as detailed above.

If you can't raise it as a call with your IT, it's their job to sort this sort of thing out and it sounds like the usual thing of a half arsed installation of IE10.

It's not your laptop remember and if anything goes wrong and you're found to have messed with it you could end up with a visit from someone like me, which you don't want.
