Auto Window - Only Just Discovered

Featured Replies

Hey All,

Was unlocking my car this morning, and decided to keep the unlock button pressed down, low and behold all the windows went down, and the oppsite for lock!

How cool is that? (sorry I am a bit sad sometimes)

Anyone else not realised that?

regards

SJ :)

Yep went out this morning and all my windows were open ....lesson for today don't sit on your key :D

Does that mean that they have that functionality already built in? I bought an Autowindow device to give me the window closing when lock is pressed. Did I just waste close on

So can you open the windows by holding the "open" button on the remote a'la Audi etc...

On the Fabia you have to put the key in the door. :finger:

Yes!

Same for the OctyII.

I wonder if the part that makes it work can be added to the wee Furby? Maybe just a coding somewhere? :rubchin:

I'd certainly like to be able to, if not Alien controller might be the only solution. :thumbdwn:

I'd often wondered why people bought them alien controller things when its a standard feature! guess its only the superb then and octyII by the sounds of it.

Also did you know about the 'coming home lighting' feature? if your driving with the lights on, when you park - turn off lights take out key and flash the headlight flasher, when you open the door the lights will come on for about 30secs to light up the pathway to your front door. if you flick the switch into main beam these will come on also. guess this is probably Superb only too, theres loads of little touches like this that you would never know about unless you read the manual cover to cover!!

Yes I know this, use it all the time in the dark, very handy feature!

Did you also know that there is a little button next to the steering wheel control bottons, on the left hand side which turns off the lights behind the switches on the steering wheel in the dark. So the buttons dont light up!

OctyII has the 'light assist' option. This includes 'coming home' (as described above), 'leaving home' (lights on car and below wing mirrors light up when you press unlock button) and 'tunnel light' (automatically turns headlights on when it gets dark).

The steering wheel buttons illumination (if you spec them) also turns off at the touch of a button (as above).

I'll have to disable my AutoWindow to see if it still closes the windows. Mine's an 02 model, so autoclose might be something introduced later.

The AutoWindow does have 'powerfold' of the side mirrors, so when you lock the car, the windows close, the sunroof shuts, then the mirrors fold in. Looks good. I often just stand there watching it all, probably looks uncool, but I enjoy it!

Then at night when you unlock the car, the lights under the mirrors come on and then the mirrors swivel out, that looks really cool!

Mines a 53 plate Superb and has it, and one of my colleague's 52 plate Superb also has it.

You'd never know about half the features of the car if you didn't read the book! I did know about the steering controls illumination button, but only because I bought a leather multi function steering wheel off E-bay (cant use though as the airbag is a different shape to the non leather-non multi function wheel! and i'm sure the correct airbag will cost an arm and a leg!)

Hello,

As far as I know this feature is avail on every VAG car (i.e. Volkswagen Audi, Seat, Skoda) with centralised locking system. Furthermore, it works also in the oposite way, that is if you lock the door with your key, all your windows are completely (or partialy open, it doesn't matter), and "hold" the key in the lock position a little more, the result is that all windows are closing.

It's really handy this way, because children always tampers with windows :)

Cheers all,

My mates R32 wont do it! you'd think being the flagship model it'd do everything!!

He was well gutted when showing the car off to me and I trumped him on every count!!...............

...until he opened the bonnet  man they sound good.

I'll have to disable my AutoWindow then see if I already had autoclose.

I did know about the key doing the windows, read it in the manual, but I don't want to have to mess with sticking a key in the door

Correct. It's around

hold on here...i just found out to about the auto window thing but....

i never knew about the auto sunroof / folding mirrors   .

how do these things work then ?

Its a box that fits in the drivers door and controls windows, sunroof and mirror folding. One press on the remote's lock button and it shuts everything then folds in the mirrors (the car needs to have the folding feature already, the AutoWindow just controls it automatically)

With a range of lock-unlock-lock type combinations it does a range of things, like shuts windows but doesn't fold, etc.. I must admit I can't remember what all the combinations are, but the one-touch lock everything, arm alarm, close windows, shut roof, fold mirrors thing is pretty cool.

Anyone know if it is possible through the wonders of VAG-COM to program the convienience system to work from fob rather than just key on furbies???

Nope, sorry. I think someone will back that up. If it was as simple as that you wouldn't find people shelling out on alientech add on controllers.

Agreed there, thats back up for you!

shame, ah well guess the superbs have to have some special things to go with their umbrella

The alientech controller seems good though and is more flexible than the system built into the Superb. I would have considered one but i've since found out that my new OctyII already has this functionality. Only 3 weeks to go.

  • 3 weeks later...

Superb Classic 52 plate. Mine dont open if I hold the buttons down.
