Skoda Fabia is 2015 What Car? Car of the Year

Featured Replies

I've heard there's a greenline version of the 1.4TDI coming later in 2015..

but what did catch my eye was the 75PS 1.4TDI Bluemotion Polo gets a whopping 108.6 MPG on the Extra Urban.. :sun:

So Skoda have to better that figure..

Oh, I was tempted by that impressive MPG but the 6 month build time put me off..besides the lack of Horses..

Tempted by the impressive MPG, are you impressed by the snail like progress as much as well

no - that's why I said "besides the lack of horses.."

I was only jesting anyway, Skoda Greenline doesn't mean the same as Audi Ultra unfortunately.

got the GLII, 75PS does not mean slow

it can shift at a reasonable speed when required away from lights, but does take a while to get from 50-70 on the motorway unless you give it some wellie in 3rd / 4th

but the mpg on long runs drive 60mph ish is good, but round town not much better than a 1.2TSi due to the additional regens etc

Also tempted by the Bluemotion Polo as opposed to the 75tdi SE. I specified up an SE in the colour I like with some options that I wanted and it was only a couple hundred quid less than the Bluemotion which has cruise included.

I would be happy to wait six months delivery providing the dealer stuck to the trade in price despite the extra miles you'll accumulate in that time period.

Surely if you agree a deal and sign the paperwork then it doesn't matter how many more miles you'll put on in the time it takes VW to build your Polo.

mine was happy when I was doing fair mileage with a 3-4 month wait,

easiest way is have a chat with them and ask the question outright, depends how much they want the sale

Egg on face of 'What Cars' face if before 2015 is out and once customers are driving the 'What Car Car of the Year' if they

have to report any ongoing problems with the 2015 Skoda Fabias.

'What Car' knew of the issues with quite a few of the Skoda Fabia vRS sold from 2010-2012 with the 1.4 TSI Twincharger Engines

& the sister cars with the 132-136 kw CAVE engines.

But choose not to mention that is articles on Skoda, VW. Audi or Seat.

Seemingly if enough people do not contact them, then no need for them to bring up the Elephant in the room with

VWG failings in Design, Manufacturing or Service Campaigns.

......but VAG have rightly so dropped that engine from the new Fabia so there shouldn't be any problems to report.

There were from 2009 with the Seat to 2014, and even now,

all 4 sister cars and the Budget VWG Brands..

I thought they won or the journalists Consumer Awards,

surely they are not in the Pocket of Car Manufacturers,.

You do not normally talk about the new Models or versions being better than old models usually without some

mention of the past models, and maybe failings in them.

Even on the new one since there is a DSG option,

mention the previous models requiring Service Campaigns and a World Wide recall.

Say now, all sorted,  'The DSG comes with a 100,000 mile warranty.

But then it does not does it.

I too have sat in the new Fabia SEL and yep its nice enough...... but car of the year when its not even rolling a single wheel on a public road with an actual owner/purchaser behind the windscreen ! I know an award is nice to have but seriously.... its like those long service and good conduct medals the police and the army get.... any bugger can get them just for turning up ! This award appears to be on the same level.

Well, unlike other posters, I've got no complaints.  I'm waiting to collect my Fabia Estate SE by next weekend.

I've sat in it, I have driven it; and I'm purchasing the very same demonstrator model.

Frank.

Skoda are running the advert for the New Skoda Fabia 2015 'What Car of the Year'  lots now.

It would be interesting to see the Advert as it was going to run before they knew 'What Car', were going to make a car

that customers do not have yet,  ''2015 What Car , Car of the Year.'

It was obviously just good luck for Skoda, 'Simply Clever'.

6 Minute video on what car youtube website ,any thoughts ?

Odd watching that.  they need a new category maybe.

 'What Car',

'2015

So so car of the year, not great but OK, some engines are next to useless but lets not consider those'.

The dashboard and center console looks like something a madcap could have invented

And the test driver mention guitars as luggage, and "... But you’ll need to make full use of the stereo’s volume control on the noisiest stretches of road".

So fathom Granddad and the Grandchildren racing around Swinging London, loudly playing Interstellar Overdrive :giggle:
