It wont have much affect unless you change the air filter as well. I use a green cotton panel filter (

The pipe is almost twice the diameter of the standard one and the inlet (mouth-piece) is 1.5 times the size so it must let a fair bit extra air in :)

i got my green filter element off ebay for

Is there an immediate increase in fuel consumption with filter and PD160 intake fitted (without remap)? Just thinking that if it's letting more air in, more fuel must be used to compensate?

Just curious :)

Better mpg due to more air

Before we get too carried away with this one (it's been done to death before):

You can order SEAT parts from your friendly Skoda dealer (I'm sure all VAG parts come from the same warehouse in MK) - the dealer just needs the part numbers (see previous 'Cupra' threads).

The hole in the side of the air filter box is the same size whichever air intake you use. The Cupra intake acts as a funnel.

On a car with a standard map, the Cupra intake doesn't let more air into the engine at steady speeds (i.e. on cruise). What it does do is cope better with demands for rapid changes in the amount of air the engine needs. One result of this is to allow the turbo to spool up sooner so you get the surge of power from lower revs. This makes the car more driveable. Remapped cars drink more air so benefit more from the Cupra intake.

Allowing more air into the engine is of limited use if the exhaust won't let it out the other side as easily as the turbo is now stuffing it in.

It's a useful mod, but don't expect miracles for under 30 quid.

Indeed - quicker spool-up and with the green filter, also smoothed the response a little.

thanks people get one ordered

Fitted a PD 160 air intake along with a K&N after about 2 months (2,500 miles) of getting my vRS.

The reality is it dosen't seem to make any real difference to performance, however the engine does seem smoother (and a tad more responsive), I have had less soot out the back and noticed a slight increase in mpg...... although I admit this could be down to the engine getting bedding in.

For the cost of

Incorrect

All parts come from a central warehouse in the midlands (its huge you can fit about four football pitches into it) and are delivered by TNT.

And all franchises have dealer inhibits so Skoda cant order seat and visa versa, also the same for Audi and VW. The only way you can order the parts is if they have the same part number which normally isnt the case as they change the prefix for the parts.

I stand corrected. In that case, my dealer must know a friendly SEAT dealer.

I ordered mine on a Monday. Collected on Wednesday and that included a Strut Brace
