Which Fabia MK3 will compete?

Featured Replies

None, don't think Skoda are that bothered about a halo model, VAG have the S1, the Polo GTI and the Ibiza Cupra as tested so they don't need another.

Vauxhall don't sell many Corsa VXRs yet sell loads of the Corsa LE which has most of the show of the VXR but none of the go, basically Vauxhall's Monte Carlo.

Honda also now do a Civic Black Edition which again has the look of the Type R without the performance, it's obviously what sells so why bother with a more expensive performance version that sells in relatively low numbers.

I hope I'm wrong but the most we can hope for is a 110 1.2 TSI or maybe a 122 1.4 TSI Monte.

Seat still committed to using the 1.4 TSI 178 BHP Engine in the Ibiza Cupra but for how much longer . As volume manufacture must be at very low level now or still have a high unsold stock pile.. Yet the   Cupra still comes out 2nd in this test, in an ageing body shell.

It will be interesting if Seat have a plan going forward to replace it with something new and Hot.

There are people in the UK that want or need Automatics & want Small Petrol Automatics with 170 - 210 BHP & maybe for under £20,000 or not above.

So there are some, but very few & to be under £20,000 it looks like they are 3 or 5 door & no Estates anymore.

All will be at Dealerships soon below £20,000, Ex Demonstrators.

Alfa Romeo Mito

Fiat Arbath (500)

Mini Cooper S (5 doors will be reduced used sometime soon)

VW Polo GTI FL 1.8tsi

Audi A1 FL 1.8TSI

Seat Ibiza Cupra 2013 model

Toyota GT86  (These Twins are at £20,000 slightly used now @ Dealerships)

Subaru BRZ

BMW Series 1 in a petrol or diesel maybe slightly used.

A Ford Fiesta ST with Power-Shift could be an absolute winner in the Warm Hatch Petrol Automatic Class if there was recognized as being such a thing.

But then Skoda had a vRS Estate on the market for 4 1/2 years for well under £20,000 and sold less than 600.

Maybe lack of marketing on them was partly to blame.

So a place possibly  for a All New 3rd Generation Skoda Fabia Estate, Automatic Petrol or Diesel with 150 - 190ps & @ the £20,000 mark

A lot of the cars mentioned above aren't in the same class of vehicle as a Fabia hatch/estate bar the Polo, A1 and Ibiza so maybe not a viable alternative to what some people needed a Fabia for.

The fact that the Fabia vRS estate sold less than 600 was possibly because there wasn't a market for them and not many people wanted one rather than a lack of marketing

Just because a small number of people may want a smaller 170-210 auto for under £20k doesn't mean that Skoda has to make one, they're never going to make one for that price when a 1.2 TSI DSG estate is something like £17-18k.

Clio RS too, I agree with you on the market for a hot hatch Skoda would have very very stiff competition from the likes of Ford with the go kart like ST

I forgot the Clio & it is nearest to the Fabia, but the RRP was high.

While driving my Citroen i remembered forgetting some Citroens.

Gazbull17,

i know some or many are not the same,

for one they are Originally 2,3,4 grand more.

Maybe there is no market for them, like the market there was for Monte Carlos,

which has been double the lowly 3,000 vRS sold over 4 1/2 years.

This is a Small number considering Skoda sold 32,000 Fabia in the UK in 2013, out of 66,000 Skodas in the UK.

&

Audi selling or registering only 500 A1 185ps seems to clearly show there was no demand in the UK for those.

VW Selling only 1,400 Polo GTI in 4 Years shows little demand no matter how they pushed them.

Since I have owned my Fabia for 4 and a half years and done nearly 50000 miles all over the UK and into deepest France and Germany, I reckon that I have probably only ever seen probably 10 Fabia VRSs.

So despite everyone going on about the new Fabia not having a VRS version, Skoda clearly dont consider the VRS worth the time or investment and that is understandable. They are after a decent share of the normal supermini segment of the market.

Most people dont want a VRS. I dont.

I think most of us understand your point of view.

I have seen more than 10 vRS just in the past 400 miles today, but then there are quite a few in Scotland.

VW sold or Registered 1,400 Polo GTI only in the UK in 4 years,

& Audi 1/3 of the 185 ps Twinchargers,

but like Robert the Bruce, they are going to try try and try again to catch the market with the 1.8 TSI 192 ps car,

finding customers for the little Models hottest Version, while really looking for other World Region sales.

PS.

The Green Fabia vRS MK2 in Glasgow, Lime Green Crail Stickers, & extra vRS badges had rather horrible Blue Dipped beam light, IMO.
