More Boost?

Featured Replies

Right then, after reading something on here, I'm wondering what bits n'bobs will get the Octy vRS to produce more boost?

A remap

I really should have said after a remap.... :D

Bigger turbo

FMIC to keep things cool

Larger injectors to keep things cool

The list is rather large.

Just to clarify though those things on their own won't give more boost, they give the potential to run more boost. You can only increase boost by means of a remap or some form of boost control incorporated into a remap, e.g. Jabba's boost controller or Revo's SPS3. Finally you could use a manual boost controller but this way is quite crude and will lead to poor part throttle performance.

So, since I have a Jabba Remap and Boost controller, then I've been heading in the right direction?

Would a FMIC, Green Panel filter and a new exhaust help in the matter then?

Yes they would be a step in right direction but you would still need to get it mapped to produce more boost.

The FMIC due to gving lower inlet temps will allow you to run higher, more sustainable boost, ...via a remap.

Seems like the remap is the key then. My guage has been indicating a boost of 1.5bar ish and yet the standard map of the ECU is supposed to be controlling the boost to 1.35 as standard still. Could be the guage not reading right I guess. So, just shows a "phat" (sorry for the ch@v spelling :)) turbo does nothing without a tweak by Jabba/JBS et.al.

I've been impressed how my FMIC has allowed very sustainable boost - Once on full boost it doesn't drop or vary at all.

Jason best way to see if your boost gaug is working is to use Vagcom. You can then measure request boost and actual boost.

You may need to give me a tutorial on this. :o

Not done anything like in-car testing at all. :D

Very simple. Just let me know when you are ready

Really need a long flat peice of road so you can go from 2K to 4+rpm in fourth :D

Hmmmm, 4000rpm in 4th? Better make sure its a private road then, eh? ;)
