Breakdown cover / The AA

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anybody know anything about a transfer from RAC to AA cover for breakdown?

When I bought my Octavia all the literature was marked RAC.

I had to call them the other day because the cover on my wifes Jetta is about to expire and the woman at the RAC told me all VW/Skoda and I assume Seat and Audi have transferred over the the AA.

Has anyone had a letter or leaflet from Skoda explaining this?

Paul

Think happened last year, the cover is the same so it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks Neily03.  I understand that, I was just surprised that a general leaflet had not been sent out by Skoda UK or dealers.  The woman I then spoke to at the AA gave me a different number that you need to call if you have broken down.

I thought you rang Skoda recovery, not the AA or RAC, they Skoda recovery get who ever to sort you out.

Had the RAC number in my Skoda Warranty booklet but when I had to call from abroad after a breakdown, the RAC person explained that some VAG business goes through them and some through AA. He took my details, found the car and confirmed it was covered but also that I would have to go through AA. He transfered me and all the details he had taken and then as soon as the AA person came on the phone all the details were already available to them. No big deal. The service was excellent and they were incredibly helpful, so no problem there either, even though it was Christmas and new year and nothing much was open or working where I was.

Do you have the new number by chance? I'll write it on the breakdown card in the car to save me faffing around if the time comes and I need to make the call.

Sorry James, not with me at the moment.  I have it at home (which I know is a bit useless) so I can post it later.

This.

Ah so the number on the card is probably Skoda Recovery. I'll take a look when I go back to my car later.

The numbers they gave me were

0800 526 625 and 0330 100 3243.  The 0330 number is good to call from a mobile as it should be included in your contract minutes being an 03 number.

For Europe, the number given in the Skoda Assistence booklet and which took me through to the RAC (see above) was 0033 472 43 52 55. The new number they gave me for the AA-run service was 0033 472 171 258

On all my 4 consecutive Octavias, all bought from new, I've always been informed they came with "Free AA cover for the 3 year warranty period".

I've never had to use them, but I assumed it meant what they said,  "Free AA cover".

(And unlike normal AA membership, it covers the car, not the driver.)
