Pictures of any SKODA VRS de-badged/black carbon Skoda badges

Featured Replies

Been looking all over this forum and I can't help but look at other Skoda VRS' still after purchasing mine three months ago. Just love the car.

Has anybody de badged theirs and used black plasti dip on their Skoda badge?

If so, any pictures would be great to see the outcome. Only found one on Google but doesn't really show much of the vehicle itself.

I'm looking to do it to my VRS but want to see other peoples to see how good it actually looks, especially on a Metallic Grey Metal. However, if anybody has done it, let's see the outcome. Cheers

I've taken the Octavia and Skoda badge from the rear (the letters) and have just got some black plastidip. As soon as the weather gets better and temperature increases I'll plastidip the front and rear skoda emblems and VRS badges. I'll get some photos up as soon as I can.

Ah awesome, sounds well good. Please do, be interested to see.

Have a look at

http://www.skodaforum.nl/forum/media/categories/octavia-3.3/?page=4

There's also a pic or two on page 5/6.

I can't work out whether the pictures are black gloss or matt, they look Matt, and i'd like to find some black gloss pics, but havn't found any yet.

I think it's actually gloss mate,

Look at the below picture, someone here has used a Matt finish... I believe anyway, it's less shiny than a gloss finish. 2d3dc6e88a29d0513b74829ea98871ed.jpg

However, I could be wrong. The link you have provided- the badges look like a gloss finish.

So by the looks of this plastidip you can have the black grille surround and black door mirrors for the price of a can of paint :D

Yeah I understand. I went to halfords and inquired about different types of black paint for the badges on my Skoda. I noticed the grill is a Matt type plastic with a gloss black around it. In two minds now of what to paint the Skoda badge? Gloss black or Matt black. The wind mirrors are a gloss type black too.

Did you say you was using a Matt black plasti dip for the badges?

I am being picky now lol... But the right type of black does have to be picked so it totally goes with the grill and outer part of the grill, including the other black parts of the car, I.e the wind mirrors as well. May have to go to Skoda to find out what black they have used for the surround part of grill and wind mirrors

I have indeed and I like it, imho looks just how I want it to. I bought mine on line from a certain well known internet auction site..... Halfords don't sell it over here in the wild west..

Black Magic Pearlescent on the grille surround and mirrors, Piano Black on the roof rails (if you've optioned them or the Black Pack) and B/C door pillars.

One of the first summer jobs on my list (as well as the badges) will be to get the rear diffuser and exhaust tips on my vRS sprayed Black Magic. Diffuser just looks wrong in the grey, which doesn't seem to match any other grey on the car (the grey on the grille centre appearing to be darker) and as I'm intending to get rid of all the other chrome on the car there's no point ignoring the exhaust tips. Highly likely I'll also get the wheels sprayed in Piano Black.

Sounds good, where are you getting the black Magic Pearlescent from? Would Skoda provide that?

The finish with plastidip isn't bad, but applying without taking the badge off the car is a pain. I've just done it, and the edges just come out rubbish.

I like the effect, and think im gonna buy some badges and just paint them properly.

Not the best photo, but the first i've seen of a white vRS with black badges...

You'll get touch ups from Skoda, but I'm not aware of them supplying paint in quantity, and even if they do the price is likely to be horrendous.

Black Magic pearlescent is a colour used across the Audi/VW/Skoda range (my Q7 was exactly the same colour but it was given a different name by Audi), and you'll be able to get it from any reputable automotive paint supplier (it's a two part process with base coat and lacquer coat being required) - just give them the brand (Skoda) and colour (Black Magic Pearlescent) and they should be able to look up the code and mix it up for you on the spot. Otherwise, for small areas/jobs, like painting your badges, you can get 300ml aerosol spray cans off the shelf in BM and Piano, as well as the clear coat lacquer.

At this time of year make sure you spray in a warm dry room/garage and if using an aerosol, stick the can in a bowl of warm (but not boling hot) water for 10-15 minutes beforehand to heat up the paint and you'll get a far better finish and much less chance of nozzle spatter. Also, use a plastic (etch) primer and you'll get better paint adhesion and flow over the surface and there'll be less chance of the paint flaking off in the future.

Think I might just get the black badges from superskoda. Not sure about postage, but they work out about £30 each. By the time you get paint, lacquer, etc, it won't make much difference.

Just because Im a  tease, it stopped raining and or snowing for long enough to finish stealth 3, but now its dark, so photos to follow....

That's what I'm going to get. Black badges look good on my car. Wish id just ordered these, rather than attempting the plastidip.

I have been looking at them this morning, look really good. They €30 for the one badge or 2 (front and rear) ?

Thinking of getting this as well when I've saved a bit cash to the side

Hmm... I have two cautionary points.... That £35 ish price tag is each!!!! bargain.... and when I had my front badge removed from my Mk2 - as it had water ingress and the green was fading, the dealer had to use a flat head screwdriver to lever it off, with resultant minor damage....

I remember you saying about the badge being removed causing damaging :/ I may spray them ... In two minds now.
