Microfibre Cloths

Featured Replies

I have had a few samples from Ragmaster & I must say I'm impressed. Keep an eye out for Facebook deals that crop up quite often.

A good find...Dont know why you should say youre not associated with the Company

Its not as if youre organising a Group Buy on their behalf

Thankyou for the link...

 Though I have more MF cloths than I know what to do with!!

Got a couple of the 800gsm ones and they're nice. Free delivery too!

I am a fan of the bulk load of Kirkland ones I got from Costco - I will have to start thinking soon where to stock back up with them, but still have at least 2/3 of one bag left which will see me in to the Spring.

Yeah, I use them also & value for money they are very good. Prefer something with a higher gsm for wax removal myself.

Exactly the same I tend to grade my MF's by quality and by virtue of that the job they get.  The Kirkland aren't quite as soft for me as the old Detailers Preference brand from Costco and neither would be soft enough for buffing off wax on soft Japanese paint for me.  Horses for courses etc and you need far more multi-purpose cloths than anything.

I got 2 packs of these before Christmas as thats the minimum order when buying them online after seeing them recommended in this section and as a general purpose cloth I find them to be very useful. Gave the first few dirty ones a wash last week and they've come up like new. I now have more than 4 large plastic containers full of almost everything mf so don't really need anymore at present, but you never know......

I never seem to be able to get them really clean once used so they usually get resigned to applying tyre dressing and the like, and never see paint again.

Washed mine on a 40 degree wash with ariel after using fairy liquid on any bad stains which seemed to work although they were not massively dirty TBF. I know what you mean though as I've got some others that are now only fit for the mucky jobs.

Woolite & a 40 degree wash gets them very clean.

Agree

Ive been using Woolite for a couple of years

Does the job really well, particularly good with my 'CG Wooly Mammoth's'

I'm currently using these guys for the blue MF BOA - similar to the CarPro ones.

Very good quality indeed.

Woolite works well, and a smidge of white vinegar too if required.

I will look out for that next time I am shopping.  Assume Tesco et al do them?

Yes - both my local Asda and Tesco have it, no issues getting hold of it.

I'll try a wash with some soon.  I must have 20 odd microfibres full of polish and wax :D

I get microfiber cloths from my local motor factors, when you buy them in a box of 100 they work out at something like 30p each for a 40cm by 40cm cloth, hence why i don't bother to clean them, I just chuck them in the bin and whip out a new one, they never really feel the same after going through the washing machine do they.

What sort of "gsm" range do you have in your armoury then NorthernMonkey?

I have tonnes of the Costco 350gsm; then the CarPro 470gsm BOA's, some Paragon 500gsm, plus some Eurow Double density Shagpiles at 660gsm.

These along with Sparkly's Lush pack #1 including glass, dash options as well - pretty happy with what i have.

All have there place and work well depending on the job in hand and the products being used of course.

I have a sample kit for the Liquid Elements range still "to test"; but not very likely in these winter months. I'll save these for the Spring time.

I have the Costco ones for general use but I don't touch the paintwork with them. I used to do but after carrying out some tests, some of which were under microscopes you could see that they marked the paint on certain cars.

I have the Boa's, Chemical Guys large & small deep pile cloths & the edgeless ones from RagMaster. They are all above 400gsm which means they are IMO ok to use to remove wax/polish with.

As said, I had up until about 15 months ago used Costco ones on the paint, but I know different now.

Ok mate - thanks for that. Never had issue with the Costco MF's; but i must admit my store is starting to built on new suppliers.

I have heard good things about the Chemical Guy MF's - but not really got a supplier for those.

Can you bring a couple of samples along - next time you visit? I'll swap you some LE options perhaps?

I'll stick with CarPro, Paragon and LE options for now.

Yeah no problem, i've not noticed an issue either until we tested them on a black Mazda (soft paint). We wiped an area & they marked the paint. We then wiped a different area with a Boa & no marks at all.

Thanks for the info. As i mainly detail VAG paint/models - i haven't observed this with the Costco/Kirkland brand.

But for sure - paints on Mazda, Honda, etc will be susceptible to issues like this - the paint is very soft.

I'd agree there I have used Costco MFs on the paintwork and not noticed any problems with them. Infact I quite rate them.
