octavia vRS - what suspension?

Featured Replies

I've had my octavia a while at this stage so it's time to sort out some of the problems. The main one is the suspension is...well...knackered. I'm going to get new shocks all around and see where that leaves me, but that presents it's own problems. The car has been lowered and is on unknown green colour springs. It has koni fsd shocks. If I could, I would just put the car back to standard, but I haven't had any luck finding second hand springs (and they seem to crack anyway) and new they are too expensive. The koni shocks are pretty pricey as well, and I'm really not looking for the last word in performance so I'm not willing to drop €700 on shocks. the koni shocks are apparently suitable to be used with a lowering spring up to 35mm.

The issue is, what do I buy? I don't particularly want stiff suspension, I'm far more interested in balance, price and comfort. The cheapest option is to just buy shocks, but what's the best option?

Are the Koni FSDs knackered or are you just unhappy with them?

I think they are knackered but it's hard to say for sure. I'm going to try get the car on a ramp next week and have bushes etc checked, the previous owner reckoned they needed to be changed anyway.
