messing with a built in app. can it cause problems?

Featured Replies

Alot of built in apps on my phone i dont use. If i close them or disable them i get this message. Am i at risk of messing things up by stopping them?2015-01-17-16-17-57.png

Most Google and Samsung stuff is interlinked with other stuff from the same company.

Remember these apps aren't running constantly despite being open or active.

So ill leave it alone then

Go buy an Apple...  :D

That can be disabled it won't make any difference

Sent from my Galaxy S5

I have disabled virtually all of the preinstalled software without any issue.

If it truly was going to cause issues they wouldn't allow it to be disabled or uninstalled!

Ah right good point. So i should do it then? Im nervous lol

I had already followed Dean's advice and bought an IPhone... Suppose I am prejudiced as I used to be an Ops manager on their support line... But does your phone have a similar feature to Apple phones... When left on charge, say overnight, they back up fully on "the cloud". I messed up my phone when I was bored one day, couldn't sort it so I just copied everything back from the backup on the Cloud. Sorted.

Yes Geoff, android backs up too but throughout the day whenever you have Wifi ;)

Do it - nothing bad will happen.

Disabling them does make quite a difference (I kept flipboard but disabled virtually all of the Google apps - play music, play video, play books etc) and only thing I have suffered is a quicker phone!
