Kerbed my effing Rays

Recommended Posts

Kerbed my Ray alloy on my sport today. It will bug me unless I get it sorted and I know the diamond cut alloys are harder to repair? Any had any experience or have any recommendations?

I lend my sport to my mother and it was returned with the front passenger marked, I too was really annoyed and after alot of phone calls to different "alloy specialist" I just ended up buying a new alloy from Skoda, wasnt working out much more expensive anyways because of the diamond cut

Two of mine got kerbed, one quite badly and my local mechanic/friend did both for £60 and you can't tell it ever happened.

That's very cheap. Where are you located? I don't fancy £150 for a new one. So annoyed with myself [emoji35]

Mansfield Notts. It is deffo annoying. Looking at the damage posted, mine was much worse and now I can't tell at all.

I'm only in Lincoln so if I can't get a decent quote I might travel over to mansfield....

Plus shark performance are in Mansfield and a remap is next on my list......mmmmmmm.....

Haha snap on the re-map. I'll try and take a pic of the after, don't have the before anymore but it was bad!! £30/40 for a repair better than £150!

Yeah worth the petrol cost. I assume they just repaired the damaged area?

I'm torn between a shark and a revo remap. What you going for?

Yeah he did indeed. Shark most likely, I just like the thought of a switchable system, rather than a full warranty voiding remap, what are you thinking of going for?

Revo offers Bhp increase to129-144 bhp which sounds generous. The price for revo is 400. I haven't seen Sharks figures but they come highly recommended on this forum which means a lot IMO so I'm torn. The decider will be sharks figures and price I think...

Interesting, is that a stage one remap? Indeed generous figures, I've been seeing 120bhp average. I'll ring Shark tomorrow see what they say.

Response from my local wheel specialist:

"Thanks for your e-mail. Unfortunately we do not have enough call for diamond cut refurbishment to make economic sense to put thousands of pounds into the correct machinery. We tend to chemical strip and paint older diamond cut wheels as the finish is prone to corrosion."

Oh dear.
