No service book?

Featured Replies

I don't have one. Was told by dealer they are a thing of the past and they don't issue them anymore as its all recorded on their system. Sounded feasible at the time (another way to try and make you get it serviced at a SUK dealer)

Thought it was worth checking with my fellow owner though? Does anyone have one? I miss it, I like collecting the stamps...

Didn't get a service book with either the previous Octy III or the Spaceback, just a cardboard wallet within the handbook pack to put service receipts in.

Same here - no service booklet supplied with my Rapid, just the cardboard folder for the service sheets (which does specifically say on it that it has replaced the old style service book).

However, I am not a fan of electronic service records (especially as I have no plans to use a main dealer for servicing after the warranty expires), so I got a genuine duplicate service book for stamping from the parts counter at my local dealership.

Annoyingly, my mum's new (to her) Fabia that she's collecting on Wednesday has two services logged electronically (all present and correct), and no old-style stamped service book either.

As of end of 2013 they were done away with. It's now saved on the Skoda database and they will print out a copy and give you it on each service and you stick it the cardboard thingy that they gave you. I do not see why you cannot buy a duplicate service book and ask them to stamp it for you. They sell them for all previous model's.

As above, you can, I have already done so. :)

I will be purchasing a duplicate as I plan on getting all my servicing done at a vw specialist if Skoda try and pull my pants down on price which they will. As long as VW parts are used the warranty isn't void.

No, Now all on a national DataBase. You can ask for a print out to put in the wallet.

Doesn't even need to be genuine VW parts. The EU Block Exemption ruling states that you can have a car serviced anywhere during the warranty period and retain the validity, provided the work is done by a qualified, VAT registered garage/mechanic/technician to OE standard and that OE quality parts are used. The safest way to ensure compliance is to use genuine parts, but it is not essential.

Good to know buddy. I've had some very good experiences with VAG specialist garages. Likewise I've had some pretty bad experiences at Skoda dealerships. ..

So how does one now know when each service is due and what should be carried out?

Shows on maxidot or spanner and message on green display.

Don't worry about it, keep the receipts. If you really want one, you can buy pre-stamped ones on eBay, which is why it's not really worth anything anyway.

Didn't get one with mine or the Citigo.

Both my Rapid (purchased second hand 2013) and Yeti (purchased new 2014) have service books.

I think it depends which servicing schedule your car has been set to.

Just ordered one. £6 delivered. Happy days

Did you have the part number for the service book ?  cheers - Stuart

It  makes it easyer to order at the dealers if you give them a part number

I have one for my '14' plate Toledo, just checked. Don't know whether they still have them for the new generation Toledo, out last year.

hey, yet again something else for free on the toledo :D
