TDI badge on new Superb?

Featured Replies

Im picking up my new Superb next week, but had a sneak preview and noticed that it hasn't any TDI badges. As Ive splashed out on the 170, I was hoping to get the Red DI badge, but I notice now looking at other facelift cars none of them have engine badges except the Greenline

Was thinking of getting a TDI badge from the 2008>2014 model and sticking it on, but wonder would it look a bit naff? Ive noticed that the 4x4 badges are on the right now, so would I be better off sticking the TDI badge in that spot (mine is a FWD)

Any thoughts?

NO!

It'll look odd if the standard is to not have them.

I agree with Superbia, especially on a new car!  Did you go for an Elegance or L&K?  If its an L&K you will get the L&K logos and in Ireland an L&K can only be a 170

Pretty sure all the new Skoda models don't have any TDI or TSI badges now..... Seems to be a thing for the VAG group in general at the moment.

If the standard is not to badge it I'd leave it that way. I'll admit I do like having a red DI on my car, but I can't see it while I'm enjoying the way the car accelerates, so if it wasn't there it wouldn't worry me :)...

Ireland is also full of people who've rebadged their cars with letters from Halfords and bigger exhaust outlets to make them appear higher spec and people who've debadged their (Mostly) BMWs so people can't see that they've bought the cheapest car they can get with the badge... If your car ends up looking like either of the above options it's probably a bad thing :P...

Its a bit sad really that a badge means so much to some people (I'm talking the brands now more so than a TDI badge).  Its even funnier with our registration system in Ireland.  People will pay for a plate ending in 330 when they have a BMW 316d or, as I saw one day, somebody went to the trouble of getting 1115 (making the 111 into an M) on a standard 5 series!  I even saw an A4 recently with the full S4 kit including all the correct badges which looked very convincing - until they started the engine which turned out to be a very noisy 1.9tdi!

Less is more as they say :)

Yep, no TDI badge on my new 170 Combi. I prefer it without in fact so I wouldn't bother, but horses for courses and all that.

My Superb I & K Combi purchased 1 March 2014 had no TDI badge, I agree with ElectricShepherd.

I think the vehicle looks much better without it. The new Badge and the words Skoda and Superb are a nice finishing touch.

Thanks for the feedback- if none of them are coming with TDI badges I will leave it as is. Note - I was'nt thinking of sticking RS or the halyards badging on the car, merely sticking on a badge that reflects the engine its actually has- in the same way BMW/ Audi/ Volvo etc do. I saw a 2014 Superb with 4x4 on it for example
