Wipers very Slow

Featured Replies

Had the wipers on intermittent today and on the slowest setting and when they made their swipe they were very slow, enough water on the screen.

Changed to the next setting and all ok again...any ideas

64-plate 1.6 Tdi.

Thanks

Leave it on the setting that's OK

Auto wipers on yours or the timed ones?

Its  an SE model so their timed..it's done it before but getting more often,

I have noticed that the SOC(state of charge) function says 100% all the time now whereas before it has been 80&90%..probably nothing to do with it but never know?

Ah right, Ok, I wasn't sure if it was an option to have the auto.

How long between wipes on all 4 settings?  Is that constant on each setting or do you mean the speed of the wipers across the screen is slow?

Mine does the same... Are you getting high power draw messages on the infotainment system under the start stop status?

No messages seen in infotainment system...what would it mean if I do see one?

I'm just seeing if it has the same issue as mine, I'd get into a dealer and get them to scan it.

Or get it on VCDS and see if there's any error codes.

Could you be mistaking a feature for a fault?

On my previous Octavia Mk2, a low end model so not an auto sensing system, the wipers would automatically wipe at a 'slower speed' (longer pause between wipes) when stationary compared to when moving.

I presume it is the same on my Mk3, but it does not rain here much in Adelaide so I have not had much chance to confirm this.

It threw me initially but it made sense and was particularly useful in a light drizzle.

The issue is when the wipers make the sweep of the screen they are like in slow motion, fully grasp you can alter the intervals they wipe from slow-->fairly quick and they will stop if you have them on continual and pull up at a junction...they revert back to intermittent..

Yesterday travelling along 50-60mph bit of sleet light rain on and off had them on the slowest setting for intermittent..when they made their sweep it was like they were in slow motion..i left it for a while then put it up one notch and hey presto back to their normal speed they sweep the screen...

Allthough its a brand new car registered late sep 14 the problem I have its a long term hire car so sod all gets done to it,had it since 800 miles and now has 13,500 nothing done to it no periodic check say 10,000miles...all I get told is ring the AA up..have a friend who works for the AA and they will either repair it or if deemed undriveable take me and the car to the nearest branch and swop it...but until something either stops or a light/warning message comes up your stuck in catch 22...so you basically run a new car into the ground which is utter madness to me but their you go,

I'm just trying to arm myself with the info I may need if it all goes tits up and I need to fix something myself if possible....

Its like the drivers washer jet doesn't spray properly in the middle...I wonder if skoda would replace it even though it's a lease hire car without the hire co getting ionvolved? anybody have any knowledge of how this works....honestly the branch we deal with are incompetent..i have to get the contracts manager to ring them to tell them whats what.

And another thing...another thread on here said about a lot of octavias appearing on the market....the load what our lease company have(all 64plates) are NOT going now for some reason so I have this a little longer which isn't a bad thing...

Rant over sorry folks.

Pop in to a dealer and ask them to check it.  Lease or not, it's still covered by the Skoda warranty
