Bluespark tuning boxes, anything changed or still the same?

Featured Replies

I had my cthe on rollers and produced 181bhp so if mine supposedly could be producing 193 I'm way off and 207 ftlb torque

At the flywheel or 181 at the wheels?

  • It's only a transaction, a simple 'sorry I've got one from eBay cheaper' would suffice! It's not going to hurt my feelings lol I just don't like being messed about. Common courtesy and all that eh?

  • I have run 50,000 miles in CAVE with TMC producing a RR'd 199bhp, and I have run 35,000 miles in a CTHE doing the same tracks ect ect , and they are as quick as each other... believe me I wouldn't hav

  • I have been running my Bluespark box for 6 months now, with absolutely no problems (ie no misfires, no Engine management lights).  Bluespark actually fitted the box themselves, &Edd, (the head ho

Thomas,

do you have new spark plugs in now & the latest Software update?

Why do you not Dyno your car as it is,

then see where you are when you put the tuning box on?

yes and yea I do its a cave nowhere round here does dyno or I would :(

Maybe just go to a Forum meet, or maybe some member can meet up so that you can compare how your car is on the road.

Dynos are fine, but you do not get to work on a Dyno, so how they go is what is important.

?Did you roadtest a few before buying, because all the cars are not equal, engines or gearboxes,

maybe only small differences, and the fastest ones are not always the best Daily Drivers. well IMO.

Myth busted!

Lets not hear any more of this rubbish :peek:

Annoyingly not, we need a CAVE car on the same rollers on the same/conditions to get a real idea.

the santa pod meet is up already , and the spring action day at castle coombe, come and try your hand against "phantom" :P

My 320d even with 230bhp wouldn't stand a chance against it!

A BMW z4 convincingly overtook me at castle coombe...was going very well....

The BM feels so much better in the turns than my Fabia VRS estate, even though it's a semi-barge its setup well, it's got good grunt too, in gear acceleration is better, it's just lacking that mighty DSG box.

I've never been on a track so I'm sure you'll come past as I'd have no idea, plus last year you were on track tyres which would have given you a good advantage and more confidence to hold more speed in and out of corners.

absolutely, BUT the reason I posted the vid, is that on the straights there was no difference! ANYONE can hold a wheel and plant the accelerator of an automatic, coobe is a very long straight with speeds of about 125mph at the end, only the engine does that..... and santa pod is just a drag strip, you hit the gas when the light gos green....

a lap, sure, thats a combination of many things, Richard fox can obliterate my car with a standard fiesta ST (as proved at how fast last year!lol) ....

but a straight line is just the engine.

Old vid I know.

I drove a standard (cant remember the model , but it was a 200bhp+ petrol) BMW 3 series, at the national meet at blyton park last year, and it was beautifully balanced, no understeer at all, and oversteer on demand... it didn't have alot of ultimate grip, (dont know what tyres were on it) , and it was only average on the straight, but it was way better balanced (and possibly more fun!) than any of the FWD hot hatches :)

Ant-VRS is going to be the car to chase once he's finished.

yeah, its an old vid, (love the roll on the standard car! :o lol)  but you can do allot to counter all the problems he finds there, like front and rear anti roll bars, suspension ect .... he obviously cant drive DSG properlu in manual, it doesn't kick down in corners unexpectedly unless you don't know how to drive it with the kickdown switch on the throttle ect .... you cure the ESP braking issue by driving well, and not like a hooligan, also I always turn OFF the XDS diff at the start of the track season, yes its brilliant on the road, but on the track it simply overheats the front brakes by trying to prevent wheelspin all the time..... turning it off cures this issue, then you control the balance of the car on the throttle yourself....

indeed, I have net him before and I like his car.... when he's done it will be a proper weapon :) there is an Aussie guy on here, mmmRacer, who have a VERY well sorted estate. look it up in the projects section, thats what I'm aiming for!

Have you had the FARB fitted yet?

Seen as you're discussing rarbs now, quick question: does it void warranty and can i fit it at home or is it a garage job? Thanks

Seen as you're discussing rarbs now, quick question: does it void warranty and can i fit it at home or is it a garage job? Thanks

its going in on monday for the FARB and accompanying poly bushes, and new front brakes (yellowstuff)

it will void your warrenty on anything it affects, so I would expect to loose warrenty on rear suspension..... I dont mind, because if my shocks or bushed died, i wouldnt want replacement warrenty parts, I would upgrade....

also insurance, my insurance company are interesting ;) (I have a bespoke commercial policy due to using my car for work) and they didn't want any increase for eibachs (skoda dealer fit part, ok) or yellow stuff pads.. (replacement part ok) or replacement performance filter (in the box NOT induction kit! , replacement part ok) ...

BUT they wanted 15% extra for the RARB.... I have of course declared, you can see the buggers! lol.... which is fair enough, as the car is now more liable to oversteer than understeer...

they litsed the mod on my insurance as "anti roll bars" so I called them and said, "can I put a front anti roll bar on then? (replace the standard one with a thicker stronger one) as you have listed "bars" ... they go away... call the underwriter.... come back ... "these are roll bars under the car right, ? not a roll cage....? " yes , i said..... , ok, no extra charge for the front one then...

sweet!

Oh okay, so is there much that can go wrong with the rear suspension, i mean is it a common thing or expensive and probably not worth voiding my warranty for?

to be honest I haven't heard of a RARB causing any issues..... (I couldn't fit mine at home, some people with better skills than me have though!)

Safe mod to add and stops that wallowing on the back end. I personally do think it has an impact on ride comfort since you're fixing two wheels together rather than allowing them to act independently.

Hm my ride is very stiff as it is and a lot of rattles seem to have started to pop up from around the interior, one is from near the switch to turn traction control off and another seems to be coming from near the driver's side window switches. And now my interior light has something wrong with it...gunna ring up Skoda dealer tomorrow and see what they say

If not just listen to pinpoint rattle and use some double sided soundproofing tape to quieten the two surfaces down

Probably they will say,

It is Sunday and there are only Sales Staff in, call back on Monday!

Well i know one is from the plastic head unit and the other i can't really locate but it comes and goes depending on the surface. So irritating
