ashtray cover

Featured Replies

Hi all, like I said in the title, I miss being able to put my loose change in the ashtray like I did with my Octavia. Does any one know if you can get an ashtray that fits in front of the gear lever with a cover instead of being an open tray? Is it part of the smokers package?

Ian.

covered some time ago, apparently same sized hole in an Octavia which has a cover!

The ashtray that comes with the smokers package fits into the cup holders.

The hole under the radio is a cubby or storage hole.

Is this what you're after?

Thinh he's after a front lower pocket with hinged cover ie infront of gear stick and under lower edge of centre dash!

I thought it was suggested that it looked like an Octavia one, but I don't recall anyone actually fitting one and proving it

You can buy a cigarette but end cup from Pound Land for  £1.00 and it fits into the cup hole, and looks OK. or any pound shop.

I thought someone tried it and found it fouled the gearstick.

I got the OEM "cup holder" ashtray with cover as a free gift from Superskoda with my Christmas order

I have a cup holder ashtray from my old Ford S-Max which fits perfectly.

However I also wanted extra storage - so decided to fit the under-driver's-seat drawer.

I also asked the same question some months ago on this forum as I came from the Octavia to the yeti and missed the cover,I was unable to get a positive answer one way or the other so if you can find, beg or borrow one to try to see if it works I for one would be interested to know as I think the part cost over £50,but a visual look and measurement it appears ok but it could be at a different angle,

That is what I am thinking of, I always found it useful in the Octavia. It looks like the cup holder ashtray is deeper and less useful as a cubby hole to put things into and take out.

It does look like just offering one up is needed. They appear on ebay for £20-£35 which is slightly less scary, but even then it would be worth trying one for size before buying.

Perhaps I'll venture over into the Octavia section to see if there's anyone local willing to let me take my torx driver to their car

I too missed the covered ashtray so I tried swapping the one from my old Octy II into the Yeti but it doesn't fit - the ventilation ducts to the rear central air vents in the arm rest foul onto the opening mechanism. There may be sufficient clearance with the models without the centre armrest/rear passenger vents.

Cheers,

Andrew

I'm not disputing your tests but I am surprised as the Yeti & Octavia 2 use exactly the same central armrest and air ducts.

I know because I got a cheap on from a Yeti and fitted it to an Octavia.

Yes, the Yeti's uncovered tray fits in the Octy 2 (which is what I did just before part x-ing my Octy for a Yeti).

It's the opening/closing mechanism on the back side of the covered tray that makes it wider than the open one - the space between the air ducts is too narrow on the Yeti. When I get chance I'll take a photo of the rear of the covered one to show the difference.

Cheers,

Andrew

Here's a couple of photos of the covered ashtray as fitted to the Octy 2 with the cover in the closed position. As you can see, it's quite bulky.

Cheers,

Andrew

Thanks for all the responses, I guess the answer to the question is no, it is the same size tray but the reason for wanting it counts against it working.

Does anyone know the part number for the ashtray that is used in the Yeti or know how much they are?

I bought one last February from a Skoda dealer - cost £9.20 all in. Part number for black stowage box is 5L2 863 383 B9B9 which includes the rubber mat insert.

Thanks. No rubber mat in mine though!

Then I'm confused.

The part I provided the link for is the Yeti ashtray.

The Yeti is not built with an ashtray. In fact very few cars now have a fitted ashtray.

The hole in front of the gearstick, below the infotainment unit is described by Skoda as a storage cubby box.

It is the cubby hole that this thread is about and whether one from an Octavia with a lid / cover / flap would fit in place of the Yeti one that doesn't.
