Sheared Bumper Support Stud

Featured Replies

As the title says, I have snaped one of the studs that holds the bumper support to the body (the one under the wing) Can these studs be removed, and replaced from the inner wing, or will a more ingenious method to fix the support back have to be used? I do still have one stud left, and 2-3 mm left on the sheared one to work with.

Thanks, it's a facelift felicia by the way

It all depends on what tools you have access to. I had the exact same problem and because I didn't have a proper welding machine available I grinded the stump, drilled a hole through it and inserted a bolt from the other side.

So the stud is welded in place? Drilling through the wing was my backup plan aswell, but I am rather reluctant to do that because I want to avoid the onset of rust. But if welding is necessary, I will have the same problem after the paint and underseal has burnt away.

Yes the stud is welded on, grind it off and drill an 8mm hole through then use a bolt, you could weld yhe bolt in the hole from the inside if you fancy but it makes it more difficult in future if you need to replace it.
