Skoda Ensurance

Featured Replies

I just got an email to sign up for free Skoda Ensurance. (3 years free cover)

Anyone got any experience of this, or advice?

It's free, you've nothing to lose. Essentially it gives you some roadside assistance, which if you currently don't have any is worthwhile, and even if you do it doesn't hurt.

Ok, thanks, I've for the free AA cover anyway but I'll join up with Ensurance

 Every little helps !!!

Ensurance has nothing to do with roadside assistance...

In theory it sounds like a good idea, and I have signed up to it, however I have seen a number of people saying they were more hindrance than help when people have processed claims through them.

Just put "Ensurance" in the search box & you will find a long list of member's comments both for & against in previous entries.

As above.  Proceed with caution if at all. Most insurers now use claims handlers whose job is simply to maximise the value of the claim from the guilty parties insurers at every step of the way by adding admin and processing charges to each process.   As the stakes are so high, companies will try all sorts of tactics to ensure that you use theirs.    This whole practice is run by parasites and results in higher premiums for all motorists.  It claims simplicity but in reality, many people have had to chase them, had dodgy repair jobs and generally received a poorer service than they would have got by going direct with the insurer.

I signed up 'cos it's free, but I reckon if your insurance company is a good one (and why choose one that isn't?), they'll do all this anyway.

My experience led me to "sacking" them from the case! However, I think this may have been the individuals involved as when I gave some feed back I was called by a manager who knew what he was talking about.

My problem could have led me to driving the courtesy car without insurance as the Ensurance rep said I was covered. When asked to email the proof to the garage he referred up a level, the next individual said I was covered but wouldn't email proof. I'm stood in the repairers at this time trying to drop off my car and pick up the courtesy car! All starts to get embarrassing and I end up coming away with my car.

The problem was getting Ensurance involved and although it was a Skoda approved repairer they recommended, it wasn't my insurance companies preferred option which then negated my insurance for a courtesy car. Ensurance said that there approved repairers wouldn't be approved unless I was driving there courtesy car on their insurance. The repairer said that their courtesy cars are only driven on the customers insurance. See the problems of getting someone involved!

On the upside though if there are any problems with part availability you at least have a link into Skoda through Ensurance.

I guess I'd use them again just for this but they need to be "managed"!

The last time I had any insurance work done, not my fault, and luckily admitted by the culprit and their insurers, I insisted on choosing my own repairer. I asked my main dealer where they had their best repairs done, and I used them, had a free courtesy car brought to meet me at the repairer's place, and all went very well (for once!)

I knew the repairer would be okay because the first thing I saw when I entered their premises was finished jobs on three racing Porsche coupes and a big Ferrari road car!

Subsequent visits were also like going to a good motor show!

Yep same here. Ensurances recommendation was similar, Bentleys Porsches and Ferraris, so was happy with there choice. Carole Nash my insurer weren't or at least weren't happy with someonelse managing the claim. Bit of willy waving going on with me in the middle! Fortunately the repairers Chartwell's in Derby were fantastic.

My experience with them recently was pretty good, although my repairs were done through the other persons insurers. They took all the stress out the process and kept me updated all the way along the line and managed to get me a like for like hire car.

To be fair, that's exactly what you already pay insurance companies for. Ensurance is just another costly layer of bureaucracy which simply isn't needed.
