door locks

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone recomed somewhere to get my central locking sorting out in staffs leek area

back door wont open and passger door will not lock

thanks

Hi passenger door may just need the pin and catches lubing, it cured mine. Loads of stuff in the forum on deadlocked doors. Check techie section. Try giving the door a thump in the region of the lock mech as you unlock, also check wiring for damage from B pillar into door inside the jonny. Try some basic steps before you start paying someone to chase problems and fix what you could potentially do for next to nothing.

Just have not got the time at the mo to mess i would raher drop it of somwhere to get it sorted while i am work

Ok but bare in mind they could be easy fixes so be wary if they start trying to flog you lock mechs and modules which are very expensive. Unfortunately I don't live round there so can't recommend, hope you get it sorted.

Hi guys back door has unlocked it self if i buy some door lock modules of ebay do they have to be coded to the car

Not the lock mechs no mate, straight swap for right model as far as I'm aware. Give them a good lube round the catches before fitting.

Looks fine mate. I went for a used one, got no idea what exact year of mech was, just that it was octavia mk1. Just make sure it's for the correct door lol that one is n/s front? Only you mentioned back door above.

Did you manage to cure passenger door not locking? I didn't need a mech to cure mine, just loads of wd40 and spray grease. I got a mech for drivers door to cure microswitch issue. While you're in the doors check and protect your multiplug, there's a thread by me in the octavia tech section, and one by Bowders on mech removal to fix microswitch stickied in octavia forum. Should see you right, any problems give us a shout.

Ok that's cool. Yeah save the labour it's an easy job really if I can do it it must be. The hardest part is wiggling the barrel free and manoeuvring the mech passed the window regulator. Other than that it's bolt off bolt on. One trick is to open the window a little bit but not so much that the slider gets in the way, just undoing one side of the regulator (with window taped in position) will give just enough slack to squeeze the mech out. The barrel should wiggle free, it may be stubborn though so just persevere, it's all in those guides I mentioned anyway.
