Who cares about MPG? Fuel is so cheap now - I paid 96.8p a litre for diesel last week!

That's nearly £4 10 s a gallon I first bought petrol at _post decimalisation £0.30 a gallon That's 6s for those who still remember proper money!!

Any advance on 2/6d a gallon - half-a-crown, 12.5p - and a penny for a shot of two-stroke?

I was getting excited when I saw the post title. I thought you meant the Italian Lakes and not the Lake District. I would still be nice to see some arty photos though.

I don't think you will find the fuel that cheap here in the Lake District, it has fallen but is still a couple of pence per litre more than stated on telly as the current average price.

But still worth it for the pleasure of living here.
