Picked up my 2005 fabia vrs today and I noticed that " insp " came up on the dash with the little spanner next to it . Is this the eml or is it service indicator ?

If you wish, you can reset it yourself using the trip recorder button.

means INSPection service.  So in theory not an oil change one.  In fact, not even sure what is done at that service

 

I always just turn mine off.  I service it when I know it needs it.

I assume the INSP is shown as a major service is perhaps due? i.e. -Brake fluid, thorough inspection etc?
Fair enough you can reset the light. But I would ask and make sure the car has been serviced before you bought it. It is a very easy thing to overlook after servicing a car, to turn the little flashing symbol off. I would of thought anyway.
