Transfer music from hard drive

Featured Replies

I am trading in my 2008 Octavia VRS next month. I have filled my 20gb hard drive in my Columbus with my music and would like to transfer it to the hard drive in my next car.

Other than transferring it bit-by-bit to 10x2gb sd cards, does any one know any better way? I won't have the two cars side-by-side, so I will need to briefly store the music from my present car before I load it into the next one.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks for the tip. I have ordered one from your link.

I don't suppose you know of any way I can copy the files other than one-by-one do you?

I don't have a Columbus so am not aware of it's capabilities. If you have files (songs) in folders (albums), you may be able to copy by folder, that would speed it up a bit or by selecting multiples files, if possible.

If you can't select multiple files on the Columbus then another option  would be to remove the disk and manage it some other way, such as with a PC.

Sorry I can't advise more, perhaps some other Columbus owner can assist you further if none of these are viable/possible.

I don't think it's possible to download music from the hard drive. You can delete it, or copy it to a new location on the hard drive, but you can't copy it to the SD card.

I asked this very question a few years ago. Unfortunately, once the music is on the HDD, it cannot be re-transfered back to an SD card. The only thing you can do with music stored on the HDD is delete it.

Blimey, that's a pi**er. I don't suppose the other option I suggest about taking it out and attaching it to another device is a non-runner too?

Sorry Blueowl, I didn't know that it was so restrictive and that you've spent your hard-earned on a card that you may not now need.

Removing the hard drive is a complete unit disassembly I'm afraid. Not something to be done just to drag some music off it really.
