Good point George but I seem to recall the old model Corsa VXR was overpriced compared to the Fiesta ST. May be wrong

remember when Mg kept rebadging the old rover 200.............................................   Vauxhall need to buy a new pencil then perhaps they could redesign something properly. 2006 this body shape came out, who the hell are they trying to kid.

BBC are reporting today on the Finance Section on the good GM sales & Profits.

& also talking about possible Car Loan Defaulting which might just become a major issue.

Just about anyone can go and get a car on the drip if they meet credit rating at the time,

and nice sporty cars are appealing to many.

Many can not keep up payments though, and that can be a problem with many nearly new Sporty Cars returned to Dealers.

Not just a GM issue though,

its going to be happening in many countries with many Manufacturers.

The new Corsa VXR probably won't be that much more than the Fiesta in standard spec.

Where it'll have a hard fight agaist the ST unless they get the handling spot on.

However, Vauxhall are offering a performance pack with upgraded suspension, massive 330mm brakes (for a small car) and a Drexler LSD.

With the performance pack it'll be noticibly more expensive than the ST and probaly a fair amount quicker too.

That somewhat beats Ford's Mountune upgrade that consists of a remap and air-box...

Yup looks like the old corsa which has been around since the beginning of time... Or so it seems

Until the RS version hits the streets!

AutoExpress keep talking about it.

But opinion is divided as to wether it's actually ever turn up.

If it does, I'd be very, very tempted to get one.  The ST turned up to 11 would be most interesting as a daily driver.

For me that would be more interesting than all these four wheel drive hyper-hatches.

Damn side cheaper too! :D

A garage composing of a Fiesta RS, a 530d or A6 3.0 TDi, and something from caterham / Westfield / Aerial / Lotus etc etc would be enough to keep one interested during the week and weekends i think.

Trouble is, where does a 500+ BHP Alfa saloon sit in all this..decision, decisions! (All keith needs to figure out is how to change up his R to a 400)

Has the Corsa got the same old 1.6 as before?

Ford is producing 12 more high performance models in the next few years. Fiesta RS could be one.

Unfortunately no 5dr option for those that need the occasional flexibility.

Hence a vrs Fabia ,which was a head of it's time(mk1 and mk2) would have been good in mk3 form, provided reliable power and good handling available.

As the song says "Move on up", unfortunately currently Skoda have stalled.

Perhaps a few New Polo GT1 owners might, via tuners ST1 BASIC , start to tweak their vehicles to become more ST competitive and also have 5 dr flexbility.

I had a bog standard fiesta as a loan car, it was rather good on the twisty bits so I'd imagine the ST would be a lot of fun. However I did drive the Vauxhall corsa when looking for a replacement for the Fiat 500. I was not impressed by it. Felt a bit vague and cheap inside (though list price was 17! !)

Vauxhall VRX range can be bonkers though lol

I agree with you on the Corsa being unpleasant to drive.  I had one as a courtesy car about six months ago.  It was nearly new and only had a few hundred miles on the clock, a few styling tweaks such as white alloys and stripes over the car and it was the second most horrible car I've ever driven.  The steering was vague and the car seemed to wander even without any steering input.  The bits that you needed to touch felt cheap and scratchy and the seats were very uncomfortable.  I was very glad to hand it back in the end and get back into my own car.

I also had a Fiesta as a hire car and the handling was entertaining but again the interior felt cheap.  Maybe the base models don't have the nicer soft touchy feely bits?

Note : The most horrible car I've ever driven was a Suzuki Wagon R.

Never owed a Vauxhall in my life and unlikely too.

However, did pass my test in a Viva mk2. My Dad had a Viva mk1.

My father-in -law had a Nova in his retirement.

Enough said!

Have owned two vauxhalls first car was a 1.4 corsa and now drive a 2.0 cdti astra j both have been really nice cars. Will get something quicker afterwards liking the vxr astra or the biturbo insignia cross country

The new corsa really is a half hearted affair.  Side on profile is identical to the out going model, sure the chassis is the same as well. Vauxhall need to be moving the game on a bit, especially as the new fiesta is so good.
