Coolant/Anti-Freeze

Featured Replies

I'm changing the thermostat on my car and the coolant as well.

I've never had to change coolant and people on the forum have discussed this before saying you need G13 or G12 coolant, then Halfords says you need G30.

Which one is it? Or doesn't it matter??

you need pink stuff I think. But they keep changing it; G12+, G12++ G12++-, G12++ = a double -. It's mad. I think it's G12+. Best bet is go to TPS or Skoda with you VIN and they'll get the correct updated update of the current version (I think)

main thing is don't ever mix the colours (blue and pink, blue and red etc). They don't mix well at all and can potentially do more harm. Just stick to the same colour that you have which I think should be pink (G12)

Upon checking G12+ or ++ may also be OK

This isn't true, it's a myth.

They are all Ethylene Glycol based and are totally miscible, the colour is just a dye.

Don't mix Ethylene and Propylene Glycols though.

G13 will be fine, its just the latest version of G12 etc.

ECP sell it both neat and diluted.
