Speedo only half lit

Featured Replies

Hi,

New to the forum and new to skoda ownership, have just picked up a 2012 Superb Elegence 2.0 tdi and am very pleased with it.

However the speedo only lights up on the bottom, pretty convinced it worked last week. Think it tried flash on earlier. Before I go back to dealer has anyone ever seen this before or have any ideas?

If you've only just picked it up, I'd be taking back for a repair as, unlless someone can correct me, anything behind the dash is labour intensive to sort out (i.e. Costly). Unless you mean level of brightness and there's a control wheel for that...?

Sounds like one or more of the back lighter LED's has failed.

As above this will be an expensive and labour intensive repair.

Time to get it back to the dealer whilst still under warranty.

Wow!! £1000... It's going back whilst it's stil under warranty. Thanks for answering, now have to figure out why the Columbus stereo forgets what it was listening too and defaults to Bluetooth and the drl's that don't seem to work all of the time!!

Included a picture it did flicker on once but no more....

I have exactly the same thing - and a month left on my warranty. Mine is going back hopefully next week. It's really annoying because every time I sit in the car the fault is obvious. I also spend most of my time between 80 and 100 km/h and driving at night, so right in the middle of the dimmed area...

For the DRLs, have a look in the lighting section of the car's Maxidot menu and see whether the option is selected. AFAIK the 2012 car doesn't have LED lighting for DRLs (My 2011 definitely doesn't have this), so it uses the headlights as DRLs, like the Nordic cars have been doing since at least the 80s.

using VDS you can get your fog lights on as DRL, I had mine done, as soon as the dipped beam comes on automatically they go off,
